Berri was a freshman in college when her accident initially happened. She was working late one night on an extra credit project for chemistry class in the labs, during a harsh spring thunderstorm that had kicked up. Just while she was in the midst of working with Chemicals, a bolt of lightning hit the school building through the window in a freak accident, shattering the beakers she was working with and dousing her in their contents while also electrocuting her for good measure.


This wasn't home free for her initially though. A janitor working down the hall hears the commotion and called in the paramedics, who came and picked up her unconscious and badly burned form from the floor of the chemical lab, bringing her off to the Central City hospital to test and treat. There though, that's where things started to show up, first with her healing incredibly quickly from her injuries, and then when she started to notice everyone talking really slowly around her.


That was 3 years ago now, and she's since learned how to better control herself and learned many new feats with her powers and how to use them, while taking on the new title: The Flash.
