So we lost one of our 3 rats about a month ago to old age. Her elderly sister (Daisy) is still holding on but we're not sure how much longer.
We've been planning to try to introduce another rat so when Daisy passes out younger girl Lola won't be alone. We hadn't planned on when we would acquire this rat.
So as most people who read this post the various places I post it won't like what I'm gunna say I'd appreciate if you'd not judge me by what I do.
I breed and kill large amounts of rats and mice where I work. We produce the majority of our own food for Raptors at a Rehabilitation Facility. Yes we breed for health because we don't want our birds eating sick rats and we DO NOT live feed.
I've gotten pretty good at seeing the difference between my ratties at home and the ones we breed for food.
So culling day came around yesterday like it does pretty often and... this little girl stole my heart, she was just so curious and beautiful I couldn't put her int he feeder bin. With the approval of my boss I decided we'd give her a chance to avoid being food and come home as a pet.
She's currently in quarantine to make sure she wont' show any signs of sickness.
She's pretty scared having grown up in a colony and now having to sit in a room alone but that won't be for long. She'll get some new friends when we can introduce her to the other girls.

So yea, meet LeeLoo, who's pretty silver color I've never seen so vibrant before in my lie.

Very well, our 3rd older female died a week ago and her and Lola really bonded during the mourning process.
When they first met their cages were next to eachother and they'd talk alot, the minute I put Leeloo in with them she snuggled with our older female instantly.
