I have always prefered sniper rifles over assault rifles, I like how you can aim at your own pace and fire when you want.
As said in FullMetal Alchemist: Normal private can fire at the enemys direction and hope to hit something, but every time a sniper pulls the trigger, somebody dies for sure
The weapon is L115A3 in case you´re wondering. This model holds the world´s longest killrange (2.47km)
