Final Fursuit Friday photo for this year (it'll be storming tomorrow, so this was the last sunset!). I'll post the Twitter mirror tomorrow since the file had to be compressed a ton for this site.

I'm not the one to usually post long speeches or whatever, but I'd honestly say that 2021 was a MUCH harder year mentally than 2020. Back then I had a circle of friends and a community to call "home", only to have it all vanish overnight as soon as I left an abusive relationship and got gaslighted. That combined with my dog dying in March, and I went completely offline for 8 months, suffering from the hardest bout of depression I've ever had to endure.

...But then along came a fursuit on my Pinterest feed. I had always entertained the idea of being a fursuiter but was WAY too scared to go through with it, since my old group of friends actively mocked furries and said they should be hunted for like real animals (ugghhHHH). But then I was like, "Hey, hundreds of people think I'm a cringey scumbag already, what do I have to lose?", and thus began this little COVID project.

I think it's too early to tell whether or not shooting for my furry dreams is gonna help me for the better; I don't wanna get too excited and overestimate the warm welcome I'll be getting when my fursuit debuts at ABC next year. But this did give me a sliver of hope back when it comes to overcoming my trauma and giving the world a second chance, and right now that's all that matters I think.
