I get the feeling that, much like women wearing bikinis at the beach with no issue vs underwear that's equally revealing (or even more modest) and being embarrassed to be seen, it's about consent--having your pants pulled off by some punks and falling on your fat butt while they laugh and walk off with your jeans probably doesn't put you in the "if you got it, flaunt it" mood...
