Yeah, I know I've got a lot of other stuff on my plate, and people waiting for their papercut badges. (I can't work on them at the moment because of the sudden heat-wave and humidity.. paper and moisture don't mix. D:) But I've had this idea floating about in my head for the longest time, and finally just got it out. *sheepish*
I'm going to Staples right now to print these out on either transparent acetate, or translucent paper, so they'll look similar to real x-rays. :3 These three are small-ish.. only about 3"x4".
And yes, I've looked at several animal x-rays. That's totally what they look like. Go google them. o.o

Win! :D And they look even better in real life once they're printed out, too. Now all I hafta do is figure out what to do with them to keep them looking nice. >.>; I tried to laminate a couple, but they both had some horrendous bubble issues, right in the middle, so that's a big NO. D: Maybe if I just make them the right size for little badge protectors and just slide 'em in there... *ponder*
:3 Soon~ I just really need to get some (read: most) of my previously taken commissions out of the way first. I already feel so guilty that I haven't finished them yet, but.. things keep cropping up. Like right now, the weather is being decidedly unhelpful. DX (I love the rain, and am glad we're having some since we've been stuck in a drought since the beginning of the summer, but really. High humidity? Bad timing! *shakefist at weather*)
I will! Just as soon as I can figure out how to finish them well. ^.^
I tried doing little white borders and then laminating, but my machine caught some horrendous bubbles right in the middle of the x-ray, so I don't think we'll be doing that again. >.>; Then again, I could just forget the little border and try laminating just the acetate. May have less bubble action then, but you really never know. Another option is leaving them unlaminated and just sticking the printed acetate in a badge protector, but that might result in some patchy results. (My school id, while in my wallet up against a plastic 'screen' got stuck and is now missing some colors/half of the face. >.>;;;) So I guess I'll be trying several options and we'll see what works best.
Then I'll take pictures of the finished version. <3

Wow! As far as badges go, this is a really inventive and just plain unique idea! And judging from the pic you posted after this one (the trial on the translucent paper), the bone will still stand out even in lower-light situations.
I would totally like one; hopefully the price will be right. Gonna have to watch and see when you open up commissions. =3

Yeah, they're printing out really well, I'm very happy. :D I'm just hoping I can come up with a good way to protect them, since ink will scratch off the acetate very easily. D:
So yeah, they probably won't be too much. Likely no more than my papercut badges are right now. ^.^
Thanks for the interest!

Aww, hopefully there's a good, easy way to protect them. I could see what you mean, though, if the acetate doesn't hold the ink well, it sounds like it's the kind of badge you want to protect and not touch much.
I've honestly never seen anything quite like this, so I'm definitely interested! ...not that I need any more badges, but I think it would still be a fun one to have. =P
