Happy new year, everyone. Here is a new post for the story:
The fighting seagulls weren't aware of the ship and they slammed into the mast really hard. They fell down, losing consciusness. They dropped the fish. The rat saw an opportunity and got the food, ready to run into the safe freight space.
Tar was slower. Losing flight - even for temporary - is terrible for a bird.
