With all the Pokemon fan art I draw you'd never guess that only a few years ago I was much more a digi-fag than a poke-fag. Ask tyguard, when she met me I was like "Pokemon, meh. But OMG, DIGIMON DIGIMON DIGIMON." Actually, I think the first time she came to my house we played Rumble Arena, ahaha. D'AWW MEMORIES.
Anyway... I like a LOT of Digimon and I felt a bit guilty for not drawing one that I feel needs "more love" in the fan art department but... Gabumon was my favorite rookie out of Adventure ;~; Dunno why, I guess I just related to him for whatever reason and liked how chill he was. I just had an ITCH to draw him. SO. ENJOY.

Something about how you drew the eyes and muzzle is just awesome. Also the blue fire, FFF~
I've actually never seen/played anything Digimon. 8D; I was too obsessed with Pokemon to ever get into that. Or maybe it was also because I was sort of out of it socially, being in Germany.

Aw, thanks ;w; I tried to exaggerate things a bit, dunno how well it worked xD
Actually, if I remember right, Digimon was pretty popular in Germany (or so I've been told). I could be totally wrong about that, though... or it could've been certain parts xD; Also, I DID NOT KNOW YOU WERE GERMAN.
Anyway, my opinion on DIGIMON VS POKEMON: Digimon has a better cartoon, and the fighting games are super fun. The main series of Pokemon games are better than the Digimon World games (although some of those are pretty good) and the Pokemon card game is better. So I like them equally, just for different reasons :3

I lived in Germany, but I spent a lot of my time on base. XD It's sort of a different culture than either America or Germany. AND I'M NOT, I JUST LIVED THERE FOR THE FIRST FIFTEEN YEARS OF MY LIFE. (My dad was with the Air Force, and then he retired there and worked on base as a contactor for a while.)
From what I saw, the Pokemon designs always looked a little more like animals to me, so I think that's why I got really into that one specifically. XD I mean, not saying they all look like animals (LAWL VOLTORB), but then there are Pokemon like Lugia and the Eeveelutions and Totodile and stuff that basically do.
That and, like I might have said (I FORGET; I'M SO SMART), Pokemon was bigger over there, at least among people my age on base. XD

OOOH okay, haha. That's neat :3 Though I'm totally curious, can you speak or read any German?
Yeah, Pokemon definitely has a different visual aesthetic than Digimon. It used to be more set apart with the first two gens of Pokemon, but I think the general rule is Digimon tend to be more monstrous in nature and have a grittier look, overall. Oh, and digimon has a thing for spiked collars and belts and crazy armor and all that. And for some reason the creators of Digimon thought big bulgy veins were...really cool O n o

Some, yeah~ I took three years of it in middle/high school. I would have gone all the way and taken six, but we had to move to America, where...they didn't teach it. |C
Yeah, I know exactly what you mean. XD That's actually why I only used Kanto and Johto Pokemon in my comparison there. (That said, I've seen a few Digimon that I think look awesome, specifically this one giant bird thing that's on the only Digimon card I have.)

Woa I just finished rewatching digimon tamers last week. I too have always been more of a digimon fan then a pokemon one (although I love pokemon). As a kid I was the only one in my class that collected digimon toys and cards because everyone else was collecting pokemon. This picture is rocking in so many ways, everything is so crisp and vivid!
This is great! It reminds me of when me and my friends used to watch digimon and play rumble arena. Gabumon is my fave character, mainly because he breathes blue fire and has a wolfish design. Your really amazing, I love your style, and your coloring makes your artwork look so vibrant and alive
FFFFFF Digimon, I love it : D Although I've always been more into Pokémon (what with it being AWL TEH RAEG a few years ago in Norway), I also have a couple Digimon figurines and cards. c: And there are some Digimon designs that are just amazingggg. If it weren't for me not having even LOOKED at a Digimon-related picture in YEARS, I'd probably accuse myself of ripping off the entire franchise; most of my characters are Digimon-esque monsters ahahaha.
Season 1: amazing
Season 2: less so
Season 3: a tad too popularized, but I still really liked it.
Season 4: UGH
I do not acknowledge anything after this.
I always liked Gomamon, honestly. And Joe was my favorite character in the first season
I have a copy of the second Rumble Arena somewhere. I miss being able to play it

I was always more of a Poke'fan than a Digi'fan, but I did enjoy Digimon too! I don't know all that much about them though... I mean I watched the first season or so of the cartoon series and collected some of the cards, but never learned to play like I did with Poke'mon.
ANYWAYS. This guy was one of my favorites! So I literally gasped in delight to see art of him pop up in my inbox. :D

Add me to the list, because Gabumon was always my favorite digi as well.
Dang, this is a downright attractive portrait of him! I love the sleek, sinewy linework.
It's commonly said among designers that a blue circle, (Such as the one framing him,) is about the gentlest, friendliest abstraction you can make... but you've managed to make this one look quite fierce.
It captures his athletic, snarlier side.

Gabumon is still one of my three favorites from Digimon, though when he digivolved into Garurumon for the first time, and later palmon into Zudomon, I was like "Whaaaa...?" It ceased to make sense. Why would they trade character designs after Digivolving? That's what I'd like to know! Zudomin is the second of three faves.
