i got a pull-up bar for christmas .... can anyone else relate to this ?? like my arms hurt too but they manage, my chest though?? if i don't post anymore - my chest has probably ripped in half b:

Yes, you do. You muscles develop when, after exercising, they have a good rest (and you eat high-protein food).
Exercise itself doesn't really make your arms stronger. Exercise makes your arms think "Oh god, our mistress is doing some horrible thing to us; we need to get stronger to overcome this torture!" And then, if you give them a proper rest, they start to develop. But they can't if you torture them non-stop.
You may, for example, train your legs the days when your upper body rests: squats, running, etc.

If you can't do any more pull-up sets in your workout but still feel there's some strength left in your arms, you can, for example, do some dumbbell exercises with light weights after the pull-ups. (I don't know how this thing is called in English. In Russian it's something like "finishing up.") And then give your arms a good rest.
