Have you ever heard someone say, "Talking to that person was like talking to a brick wall?"
If not, I'm sure you could derive their meaning from that phrase regardless of whether or not you were familiar with it. For example, you might think it would implicate that person as having a dull, or unresponsive nature.
Now, I have actually talked to a real brick wall to see what they think of this, and have found that such a notion is quite untrue. They are quite colorful individuals who are very fluent in conversation with urban beings such as you and I, thanks to their spending much of their time in proximity with such entities, and the individual bricks themselves having been handled frequently by them from a very early age. They're just waiting for someone to address them in a manner that appeals to them.
So I should think, assuming you find one willing to talk to you, a conversation with a brick wall can be a very rewarding experience. There is a downside though. Due to their background, opposed to that of say, a forest tree's, their way of speaking may be less cryptic, and more, how should I put it? Uncouth? Obscene?
In closing, I suppose I should also add that it'd be advisable that people of a week constitution for the hearing of profane language should, for their sake, avoid conversation with brick walls unless they're a glutton for punishment.
Hmm, maybe that is the true meaning behind the phrase, "Like talking to a brick wall?"
