Out of any reality she can imagine, I think it's significant that this is what first comes to mind. It gives me the impression that Mitzi's not only sorry for her friend's misfortune still, but perhaps a little guilty as well, for the sentiment that she's so much better off to still be normal. A wishful reality, but also a misled one. A less favorable one. She doesn't need to trade places with him, and it probably wouldn't make Graham happy to do that to her. Nor to know that she feels so bad for him, that she's willing to bear it for him. Even though she's so kind, she doesn't need to. Beyond the discouraging cloak of his extraordinary exterior, Graham is already as happy as she can imagine or wish for him, and he found such happiness in his friends. Fortunately, that's all he needs. If only Mitzi could be assured that her love and care for her poor friend is already enough, to give back as much worth to his life as any other. Yet of course, if I thought someone was suffering for what can't be helped, I'd be scared to bring it up too.

Definitely not a real dilemma at work here "I know", but regardless, this is why I love your art so much. For me, it always stimulates the imagination... and the feels. ^_^

Certainly not meaningless. I love to imagine, and this piece really inspires me. Like I said; I know Graham's contentment isn't a mystery. Mitzi knows he's alright... Yet, like the title suggests; "What if" she didn't? It's not a nice reality I've imagined but, you were right; it is fun to ponder any possibility. And even a small difference can have a profound impact... Thank you for creating this piece. Definitely my favorite of yours.
