While reading a semi-heated discussion regarding the process of evolution in a furry world on a friend's picture, it came to my attention that the Theory of Evolution is rather poorly understood. Therefore, I have decided to write this brief primer in the hopes of better explaining the process in what I hope are terms accessible to everybody.

This paper is not intended an argument one way or another, but certain assumptions must be made to fulfill my stated purpose of better explaining the theory of evolution. Nevertheless, this primer is intended to rectify a few of the misconceptions that are common in both the pro and anti evolution camps and as such it is my hope that it will be a rewarding read regardless of your philosophical inclinations. Indeed, this work may well be more rewarding to critics of evolution as it will help them to avoid strawman arguments in defending their position.
