I used to work in the butcher shop of a grocery store and we were in charge of the tofu meat, I always said it should go in the produce section but no one listens.

I must say it looks pretty good, I've never had it and frankly any process that makes beans into bacon can't be all that better then just eating bacon

Amen. I have a vegetarian sister-in-law. I've tried her soy and wheat based meat products a few times and while they're better than you probably believe, they're not to my liking.

I had a few other beefs with the fake meat section. I belive it should be illigal for them to use the tearm meat in there names, Meatloaf, Meatballs, and the like. I'll say this though I've been tempted to try it... but it always cost so much more then the real thing it never seemed woth it.

She's not the braggy type about it though, she just doesn't like meat. She doesn't go in for the fake stuff either.

well, my sis-in-law doesn't do it for reasons of taste, it's a moral thing. She's told me she would have no problem eating a human who volunteered to be food. Her big problem is: Nobody asks a cow, pig, fish, chicken, turkey, etc... if they want to be food. And so she doesn't eat meat. I try to help her out when she eats at our place with the fake meat stuff because she's shy about trying new stuff and her family, while trying, is realtively insensitive about vegetarianism. I try to make a vegetarian equivalent, not just alternative, when she eats at my place.

It tastes... Kinda like beans. Like someone tried to make unsweetened bean pudding. Not bad but the texture takes some getting used to.

Tofu is just somehow hard to cook well that I don't even try making any food with it...plus I still eat fish and chicken that are easier to get already cooked :P
