I've found a certain "universal law" or maybe it's an earth thing but, it goes as follows:

"Every time you try to idiot proof something, the world makes a better idiot"

I'm sure I've heard a couple in my time, but the one I remember offhand is "never underestimate the ingenuity of a complete fool."

I've never heard this but I think it is totally true hehe

About the only way to idiot proof something is to make it physically impossible to mangle themselves with it. Like making it so the cardboard crusher won't operate unless the gate is closed. This prevents accidental deaths at least. =P Though most places that operate such machines tend to be too busy for you to easily get away with murder.

It also doesn't stop some idiot from purposefully damaging the safety measures "for convenience" and getting someone mauled or mangled as a result. Really, the best you can do is make it so hard to be idiotic with a machine that it's more effort than it's worth for all but the most determined of fools. Or someone just really intent on committing murder with the machine.
