He spent hours reading books, after all he was still fascinated by humans, but something was missing today there was no whining, no complaining about how boring it was.
Adam then realized that the one that usually calls him "brother" has been gone for hours now, in fact it wasn't the first time this happened, not that he really cared that much but he started to wonder why, he then thought that looking for him would be a good excuse to stop reading for a moment.
A few hours passed and there was no sign of him. Was he running away from him? He admitted that he needed help and he knew who to ask.

It's been weeks maybe months since he started to sneak out, their first encounter was just a coincidence and it went out all but good and it was obvious: androids and machines were enemies for so long that it was hard to let it all go at once. It was a brief moment and nothing else happened other than a few threats coming from her before leaving without saying anything else. He ran by her a couple of times after that; sometimes he decided to look for her, maybe as a game or maybe because he wanted to see her and try to talk to her. He also noticed that she was always alone, no Pod, other YorHa or Resistance androids that could keep her company.

There was that time in the Forest Kingdom when he decided to ask her the reason of her loneliness, "I don't need anyone to keep me company, it's unnecessary" she replied. He couldn't imagine how it feels to be alone, the last time it happened he went berserk and everything got messed up, he was always with his brother ever since he was born, she must be really strong to spend every day in solitude.

He had the resolve to meet her at least once a week, he felt the urge to do it, he didn't exactly know why but he let his instincts, or maybe his emotions like his brother would say, guide him.

At first it was hard, she really wanted to evade him but between small talks and awkward silences they started to meet each other, he couldn't believe how different it felt from his relationship with his brother, they would exchange opinions and talk about the past even about humans, he did enjoy talking to her and sometimes they would pretend to be humans, like he used to play with his brother, but it was different, it was... innocent.
He remembered then stuff he read in books wrote by humans about feelings, about love, he couldn't understand was it love, did he like her? He couldn't wait to see her again after every meeting; seeing her, talking to her made him so happy, he also loved to see her smile, it was a rare sight but it was worth it, seeing her happy was more than enough for him, but... why?

He's a machine and she's an android, how can two beings made of metal and wires love each other? Isn't it required to be made out of flesh to have a "soul" and feel things?

It was a typical day in the Resistance Camp ever since the war ended things have been pretty boring for androids and the morale started to go down after learning the truth behind project YorHa, but they haven't given up, not yet. 2B and 9S started to hang out more often and spend time with each other, now that the machines weren't a threat they got plenty of time to talk and go around finding things that humans left behind.

Adam walked in as if he was any other android, by appearance you couldn't distinct him from them. The whole Camp was suddenly alert, just in case he dared to do something reckless, he immediately walked towards 2B and 9S avoiding the death glares, he grabbed her hand gently. 9S frowned.
"I've come to ask you a favor, if you don't mind" Adam said politely. "What do you want?" 9S rushed.
"Oh, I just want you to use your little Pods to help me find Eve, it's just that I haven't seen him in a while, who knows what kind of trouble he might be causing" he said, trying to convince them. The pair hesitated for a moment, then concluded that he might be right and Eve could be causing trouble some place near.
Pods located his position near the shopping facility and quickly ventured there but when they arrived he was gone, was he really evading him? And why? 2B requested support from the Pods again, they quickly located Eve, this time near the Resistance Camp, they also detected a black box signal near Eve's position, both androids expected the worst.

They couldn't believe their eyes when they got there.

First of all, I can't believe I wrote all that for this pic lol, but I think it was necessary to explain my point of view regarding this pairing and add some context to the picture.
If you've played NieR: Automata you should know that A2 and Eve never meet in the game and there's no evidence that they could have ever met off camera, so this is a "what if?"
In ending C we see that -if you pick 9S in the last battle- the Tower gets to launch a rocket but it isn't aimed to the server on the Moon like it was initially, its purpose was to look for something else, a new home for the machines and their network, within the data contained in the rocket there were both: Adam and Eve, my story is kinda based on that, the machines go look for a new home but then go back to Earth or some of them go back to Earth, I can totally see Adam returning because of his obsession with humans, Eve would just follow him.


As for why I picked them instead of, you know, shipping 2B and 9S like someone would wisely do, is because of their personalities and stories (And because they look really good together, admittedly x'D)

A2 is an android that was made literally for disposal, back when she was created project YorHa was just developing its android models and they installed on her and her team different personalities to see how they reacted in combat and then make the next series of androids based on the results. Her whole team was killed by machines, she escaped and since the whole mission and her existence was suppose to be a secret, Command ordered to kill her for she wasn't suppose to survive, she was unwanted, unloved, her enemies weren't only machines now but androids too, her own "kind". A2 managed to survive alone three years and was extremely experienced in combat by the time 2B and 9S meet her at the Forest. After a succession of events she gets to experience life in a different way, with new eyes and starts seeing how beautiful the world is, in the little time we get to play as her she developed as a character greatly.
(I personally like to pick her in the last battle -xD-, I really like that ending even though Adam and Eve apparently get destroyed along with the Tower, but the fact that she sacrifices herself and saves 9S instead of killing him, also those last words to her partners, she even apologizes before destroying the Tower, plus in the other route she didn't lose she got distracted because she listened 2B's voice that's why 9S could strike back, she was probably going to do the same if it wasn't for that)

Eve on the other hand, is a character that doesn't get too much attention. Unlike Adam who is very polite and cultured, Eve is shown to be more childish, his boss theme is even titled "Dependent Weakling" and it's because he depends a lot on Adam whom he considers his brother, but Adam never really cared about him (As it is stated in an official book), Eve was just his back up if he ever died, he could just revive with Eve's help because they were networked, Eve knew this, he knew that Adam didn't care about him but he didn't mind he loved his "brother" deeply and that's why he went berserk when 2B killed him, he never got a chance to actual develop or change as a character unlike Adam, because he just followed Adam everywhere.

I saw in both: A2 and Eve an interesting relationship, both are unwanted and could grow as characters together. A2 learned that not all machines are bad with Pascal, she even helped him and was sad when she had to erase his memories (Or kill him, depending on what you do though), so she could start a friendship with Eve that would probably have a rough beginning, but develop into something interesting -Doesn't have to be romantic, even though this post is about shipping them- Eve could benefit a lot interacting with her, he could probably grow and develop as his own self and depending less on Adam, a relationship between an android and a machine that was made to look like one, well that's interesting xD
Plus, they both like to be naked haha xD

This has to be one of the rarest pairs I've ever liked, only three people -myself counted- like it, and two of them aren't really active, it has its pros and cons, less drama but there's no one to talk about it, for example, but I'm okay with that, it isn't something I can't handle. And I wasn't able to post anything about them until now... so yikes my poor rare pair xD

This picture took particularly a lot, I started it in January based on a concept I had in mind for months, things happened and couldn't finish it until now, I added tons of details which made the process longer than what I initially expected, but I enjoyed it overall ♪(^∇^*)

This place is an actual place in the game, not far from the Resistance Camp in the City Ruins （*＾-＾*）
