I finally decided to make a proper colored drawing of my character Azad, one where his markings and fur patters are clearly visible. He generally wears quite a lot of clothes, but I made him topless just for the sake of admiring all that cat goodness. Isn't he just handsome?!?
As the title says, Azad is a member of one of the many nomadic tribes that live in the vast deserts west of Sirath. Or rather, he used to be: he was banished from his tribe after he killed his own uncle, who was also the leader of the raid group he was part of. His uncle was a pretty horrible and sadistic person, who killed his fair share of innocent civillians on a whim, but that did not matter. Azad still murdered a respected warrior and he was lucky enough to be just banished rather than killed. Both him and his war-bird Tara were cast out and his name was taken from him. He chose the name Azad later on his own, and nobody knows his original name.
Unfortunately, due to his action, Azad became an outcats for everyone. Other nomadic tribes would never accept an exiled and dishonored warrior, and the people from the city states hate all nomads with a burning passion thanks to the tense history between sedentary and nomadic people. The poor guy is all alone, with only his bird for company.

^ Oh, by the way, this masterpiece was a reference sheet I made for his markings ages ago. One of my best drawings to date.

I'd wager a guess Nur might be a bit more hospitable, Reckon a lot of people treat him as an outcast and all, I vote they pair up and start their own tribe, with blackjack and hookers
Got to ask though, do they use the polearm while mounted? It looks a little awkward for lance use but jesus it'd be a hell of a cut
If the tribes use weapons like that historically you could have a little roman hint, adding ridges to the empire helmets and thickening the shields to deal with the falx on steroids XD
Is there a lore reason they don't go for a top spike? It looks really decent for one on one combat with the hook options it gives you but it feels like you might put yourself at risk if you have to always take swings

Yes, he would be! But he still grew up in a society that hates Azad's people... it would take a bit of time to unlearn all that.
No, that polearm is used on foot only, it's too short, it reaches 2 meters at best.
The war-birds are extremely tall, so for that they use something like a pike, at least 6 meters long.
Generally they prefer to engage from a distance with bows and spear throwers when on the birds, though.
The curved shape is there mainly because I decided to make my cats use mainly "claw-shaped" weapons with a forward curvature, just to make them more unique, though they still use spears and some straight swords. And well, I'd say this polearm is like a "reverse naginata" almost. It can still stab, even if less effectively, and at the tip it's double edged so it can cut both ways. The spike on the spine can hook enemies and it's pretty thick, so it's good for puncturing rather than cutting. Packs a nice punch against armor too, almost like a warhammer spike.

Fair there, but theres a black quality chap called Mr Davis who's managed to convince 300 kkk members to hang up their robes just by talking to them lol
Ah that amkes more sense, sounds like a hell of a lance tho, that'll outrange a fair number of pikes, here come the winged hussars lol
ahhh I thought it just had the one edge, that, that'd be nasty in close combat man, and aye hell of a punching wepaon there, maile would be screwed

From the red ribbons holding his shin guards on to the tiny baubles perched on his ear tufts, he's dressed for success. Nomadic, desert success, but success all the same. Beautiful work, as always. Love his expression, his attitude and his large companion.
