Another picture of my character, Three. This time she's out of all of her baggy clothing and showing precisely why I tend to drape her up and generally not draw her very often. Her anatomy is insane and I didn't quite get it right here. She has big shoulders and a narrow torso and strong upper legs and really awkward digitigrade legs that I totally flubbed. Drawing her requires me to do a few things that I normally don't do with my art style, such as making the tail fairly small and minimal (I like big boofy tails) and keeping the head a little smaller as well.
I've always felt that body shape and anatomy are important with character design and it's good to have characters of different body types to practice on. Since Three tends to live a fairly rugged and eclectic lifestyle she's built up her arms and legs. But she also has minimal gender characteristics in her anatomy (AKA, her chest isn't huge) for various biological reasons. At the same time though as she IS female, her hips flare out. It's an interesting practice to draw a creature who can be mistaken for a male at first glance but if you look a bit closer you notice it's female.
This is yet even more Paint Tool Sai practice. I think I've reached the point where I'm moderately comfortable with my digital skills. I still have a face ton more to learn, but I've also learned how to stop making it difficult for myself.
