Well, yeah, I heard that Further Confusion 2022 was postponed so yeah. We're not out of the wood yet unfortunately.

That's my local con. Just saw that on their website the other day. It is disappointing.

But hey, I'd already decided that it wouldn't be a very good idea, and it's ultimately for the best.

/me goes to a non-furry-but-up-my-alley convention called VCFMW that, whilst cancelled for 2020 (it was virtual instead) WAS able to be in-person at least last year..

Here's hoping for a VCFMW2022, if the fates align.

If more people get vaccinated and stem the spread of the virus, then yes, it will slow-to-stop. (Also, whilst more spreadable, the omicron variant is seemingly less deadly, (like how the flu was originally, then it changed to be more-spready-less-death-y))

Well that didn't really answer what I was asking BUT if you really believe someone created it then I dont see why someone would intevnt then infect themselves and their country to use on people.

Someone are something they shouldn't that was infected and that infection was able to jump and work on humans.

I mean there was and still is an investigation that the possibility that covid-19 is a lab leak from the Wuhan Virology lab as they was actively testing covid variants on bats, rats and other test animals

this was my saying. im sure it was a lab leak but than, SOMEONE had to work on corvid and "invented" it somewhat, for reasons for us unknown but than, why the f do i work and create such virus in the first place anyway? While it's not completely impossible that the virus was a result of a leak from that lab, it's pure speculation at this point. There is not yet any proof of that. It's one of a number of possibilities, and probably not the most likely.

Also, your understanding of how that might have happened is seriously flawed. They were studying corona viruses which already existed, as many other labs have done for years, not "Inventing" them.

We all dont "really" know how it came to this but believing the fact that someone in china was hungry for bats sounds a bit "odd". that someone, more or less, "created" it and worked with it makes at least, logical, more sense so that said virus was a lab leak sounds at least more logical than someone took a bite of of batman...(again, im not proofing my point since both is still VERY possible but one idea sounds more like an odd joke wile the other more logical, for me at least)

It wouldn't be a question of someone eating bats. Bats can communicate viruses to humans or other animals. It's happened many times already.

Sure. Bats are just a common vector due to their particular biology.

Most or all of the of the recent viral breakouts are essentially the result of continued human encroachment into wild land, and the result of people or their food animals coming into contact with wild animals.

I dont think we can take more large scale lockdowns...what point is there in safety if the economy and shipping lanes crash and therefore peoples quality of life is in the bucket? Maybe it would be better to be dead, than live in a dystopian shithole.

Honestly what's the safety even worth if you spend your life in a cage? Zoo animals are "safe", yet we all seem to recognize where they'd be way better off.

My last 2 birthdays have been in lockdown.

Doing terrible things is not a good thing.

Trying to prevent a greater outbreak is bad? People are effing suffering and dying. It may suck, but at least they're taking actions that work.

Quarantine never ended for me, we had planned to go back to normalcy at my workplace in February. I doubt it's going to happen now

The world is pretty much over. I've decided it's better to accept it this way then hope things will ever get back to the way they were.

I feel that somuch as this happened nearly all around the world. I wish you a happy new year anyway cause 2022 will go on if we feel for it or not. And a new year is a new chance for so many things even within this whole mess we live in since 2021.

it feels like the people who are supposed to be helping us are letting us down at every turn. all we have is eachother in whatever limited capacity we can manage.

In spite of how bleak the world is seeming right now, it's in these days true strength can be forged, and we are winning against this tide of negativity every day. People are getting vaccinated, not just out of government mandate, but because they want to do what they can to help; for the first time in too long, many people have taken to developing themselves and building back better and giving themselves a sense of self worth; even outside of coronavirus and the vaccine, scientific and medical breakthroughs are happening, and great things are being accomplished.

I've missed conventions so much these last couple of years, and locking down has meant I have missed the chance to spend time with people in general, but the friends who have been there with me have shown themselves and our bonds have strengthened, and we are closer than ever. This time will pass, even when it seems that nothing is going to change. Change happens, it never stops even if seems like it has slowed to a crawl.

Maybe one day we beat it for good. And i wish more sooner than later. The only positive thing 2021 gave us, was how fast nature recovered with less travel. The impact of the common flu never was so small and asthma cases are dropping.

Wearing a mask and getting vaccinated, yes. And no, I'm not as much to blame. I've done everything right. I've been considerate, done everything I'm supposed to.

So don't you dare try and say that. You have no right. I just had a friend cancel a trip to see me over concerns due to this fucking virus. My patience for this shit is at a VERY low level.

Eventually people are going to just stop giving a damn. This isn't dissimilar from the Spanish Flu in the early 1900s. After World War I, people just said "meh."

Regardless of what happens, life goes on. Time doesn't stop for anyone or anything. Why bother wasting more of it? If someone's time on earth is limited, wouldn't making the most of it take priority over a "what if?"

Life goes on? Not for the people who have died. Not for the grieving families of lost children.

For the rest of us, sure. But not really for them.

People die every day for a variety of reason. It's tragic, but I still see cars out, businesses open, people walking. When my aunt passed, it was rough on me for a while, on my mom especially. But life still goes on, regardless of our grieving. Eventually we accepted it. That's part of the process. It has to be to keep living, because the world doesn't stop for anyone. That's life. There are people that are so hung up on trying to stop it, they forget that everyone is going through the same thing. It doesn't single anyone out. You grin and bare it until you get to the clearing.
