I really try to keep a good sense of flow and movement in these pictures, a lot of artists who draw snakes, even good ones, do not plan out the exact path the snakes body takes. It is easy to just throw coils on a character and they will mostly make sense without planning, just does not look quite as good.
Amazing job with all the scales in this Kill, seriously. I always though he had the most beautiful character due to all those intricate things, but they must be maddening to get all onto paper properly. Heck of a lot of patience required!
As for the peril itself, a very nice and desperate expression there, with a futile attempt to hold back the liquid creature. Always good to see someone just about to lose. *grin*

I always like intricate characters as well, but when one has such a character, it makes the likelihood of drawing them worse, since every sketch is more of an investment in time. It was actually fun though, as well as tedious.

It's just so interesting how something made from a gelatinous material like grape jam could take form and possess the strength to actually retain its shape and stay together to be able to constrict, while being able to stick to itself and melt in the ground and other things.
Well Smuckers is not actually made of jam, its just a joke over what he looks like that started early on and gave him his name. He is just like the blob from the movie of the same name, some unknown substance with basic intelligence and a great hunger, only in his case he actually eats, rather then just surrounding something.
Of course it's not actually made of jam. That'd be silly thinking it's a food. I merely stated that his consistence is as a jam of jelly, maybe even gelatin. Either way, I still want to figure out how it can constrict if it's made out of this gelatin-like substance.
