2022 Fursuit WIP #1 - Head Base Concept
Finally starting work on my second fullsuit!! I learned a lot of stuff from my first sewing run with Flan and can't wait to make things a bit more challenging this time around.
Right now the planned features are:
-SOCKPAWS!! I finally feel confident enough to fully sew fursuit feet! Gluing was fun, but burnt my fingers a lot. I also want to focus more on keeping the illusion of a digitigrade body streamlined throughout, so switching to "stompy" digi feetpaws is a must for me.
-Fursuit wings: Yes! This character has small angel wings! I've done the research over how to go about this already; looks scary as always, but there's always a first for everything, yeah?
-Floor-dragging tail: This is the part I'm MOST excited for, even with all the hassle I'd be doing with having to wash it a bunch- floofy chinchilla tail!! It'll be striped!
-Removable digi pillows: Already did this for Flan.
-Hidden ear vents: Already have experience with this from Flan.
-Whiskers: This is a big "maybe", if I have time to try them out before FWA. If I do go through with these, they'll be white.
-3D/Follow-me eyes: Already have experience with this from Flan.
The features I used on Flan that I won't be using this time:
-Magnetic eyelids: I'll be using this suit more for business photoshoots rather than performance, so I didn't really see the need to do the extra steps for a feature I'd barely be using.
-Foam fursuit feet: They were convenient to practice on, but it's super easy to see where my leg ends and the foot starts since it has to cut off so abruptly. I'll probably stick to foam feet for plantigrade fursuits though, like the one I did for Kedamono last year.
I regret not taking enough WIP photos during my first fullsuit, so expect more of these posts in the future! The plan right now is to finish them in time for FWA; if I don't make that deadline, then before Harvest Moon Howl Fest at the VERY latest(that's in October, plenty of time!).
(Name right now is Nia (they/them) but since I'll be reusing their design for my store, their name will probably be changed sometime in the future.)
