The butterflies in Kaa’s stomach continued to flutter as the two of them shared a quiet moment, locking gazes with each other, unable to break contact, not by some enthralling power, but simply from the rising passion between them. Sylvia, hopelessly pining for the embrace of his hypnotic influence. Kaa, happy that he could find just one person to share his desires.
“Sylvia…I wouldn’t dream of leaving my precious Good Girl to worry herself. No, dear, in fact…” He slithered up to her, and in the haziness that followed him hissing that trigger phrase in her ear, the serpent locked lips with the librarian, catching her by surprise. “…I intend to be near you for a very long time.
“What say you and I make a vow? Just you and I, together, in love.”
The canine’s eyes were wide and her cheeks were red. “Kaa…You’re suggesting that we…marry?!”
“That’s how you bipedal creatures show your affections, isn’t it?”
It occurred to her that the animal, despite his intellect, was probably unfamiliar with cultural customs and what one might consider courtship. His approach to romance was certainly very forward.
“Well, don’t you think we should get to know each other a little better, first?”, she sheepishly asked.
Kaa smiled. “Oh! Why certainly.” He made the consideration that he often didn’t think to learn much about his prey, aside from how best to mesmerize and tempt them. But Sylvia was no longer prey. A plaything, perhaps, but never before had one of his “toys” demonstrated such a level of desire to be played with that persisted beyond the depths of entrancement. Given, he had helped foster that yearning, but he knew that, ultimately, her decision to give herself over to him was hers. “…Perhaps you have a suggestion?”
