Here is a lamp I designed and had made for one of my jobs. The shape of the lamp was inspired by a byzantine architectural fixture seen in Hearst Castle in California. It is composed of formed resin over a wood base with layers of mica that are applied to resemble an abalone shell. The shape of the shade was taken from the client's family crest. If you look at the shade from the top, the outline matches the form of the crest. It is composed of parchment with a silver & gold fleur-di-lis on two sides. The metallics are mirrored in the trim on the shade and the soutash on the edge matches a thin watercolor line that is the same color of pale green-blue used in the room. This was so fun to make and I was lucky the client was willing to pay the price for executing such a nice pair of lamps.
