So this room was actually just an empty attic space. No walls, no floor, only roof rafters, joists for the bottom floor ceiling and braces for the ceiling. The reason the room is diamond shaped is because there were unmovable beams supporting the ceiling. I wish I had a picture of what it looked like before. I used the rafters of the roof as exposed beams, put insulation between them then put slats of wood between. The loft bed I wasn't going to do originally because there were unmovable support beams, but I saw that if I raised the floor up 5 ft, I had enough room to extend it, so it made perfect sense to be a loft bed. I got air conditioning in there which hardly does anything, I put in carpet twice because the original red carpet turned out to be cheap garbage and go flat and matted in like two weeks. The reason for the step down by the ladder is, I couldnt fit the stairs going out into the hallway and I couldn't fit the ladder going down into the bedroom, so I had to lower that section of the floor 1ft to make that work. The hallway is because other people needed attic access so I had to build out that whole area and put in a door. Its currently unfinished.
What I need to do now is replace that metal ladder with a built in 14 ft ships ladder that can be detached in the room below, probably some kind of safety feature so I don't fall down that hole, carpet and wood flooring for the hallway and trim everywhere.
Oh yeah its also a retro gaming room so I bought an old CRT, built a wood stand for it and some built in display shelves for SNES, N64, and playstation games. I'm gonna build some more shelves for my VHS movies and the rest of the games. I have a built in floor desk because I like the thought of working on the floor and not up on a big desk and chair, saves room too. A little cramped in the leg department but with this ergotron arm I can move in all kinds of positions to get comfortable.
