The tired sun begins to slowly sink below the horizon, its brilliant light fading with it. The lake is alight with the final reminder of it’s glorious incandescence, reflecting the beautiful hues of gold, orange and purple off it’s surface. With the sun’s departure, also departs the oppressive heat of summer. The air begins to cool, and the wildlife venture out from the shade to forage and revel in the beauty of the last light. Stars begin to twinkle in the night sky, no longer outshined by the sun. The meadow grass stirs with the awakening of yet more stars. They drift to and from a mere feet off the ground, carried by silently fluttering wings. Their light twinkles and glows to match the stars above. A strange canine creature gazes transfixed at these curious terrestrial stars. Some old magic of the world, their wonder largely lost on the rest of the forest inhabitants. But she appreciates their beauty. They are like her after all, often seen, but few gleam their purpose. They are both wanderers in the dark, she and those stars, good omens to those who see them.
I’m very happy to present the final part of this series! The colors in this piece are quite simply gorgeous! I love how the purple in the sky matches Fiadh’s coat, and the glow of the fireflies her twinkling stars! Sunsets and sunrises are truly magical, their beauty all the more so due to their fleeting nature. This image serves so perfectly as a foil to Winter! The sky has the same colors, but where Winter was mostly orange, we have the purples of twilight here. A most sincere thank you to Behane for bringing this idea to life! I just love all the unifying themes between each season, and that each shows a different time of day.
