...............So yeah. Going through my old boxes of stashed goodies and gemstones, I am thrilled to have found this again. Never would I have imagined to have a single stone to represent my fursona. A kitsune carved from labradorite, weighing in at 164.44 carats. ...If only it was a fennec-ninetails. :B
I've been debating what to do with this, if to hoard it as a display piece, or to perhaps sell it. I had plans with setting it in a pendant in the past, but bills come first and foremost, as well as restocking new inventory. This is a piece I am ~not~ in a rush to sell, given how difficult it will be to find another, or to carve one myself in the future.
Figured to give this an upload to share one of my own personal treasures after wondering where it was stashed over so long.
Asking Price - NYEH. Baller offers only, as its sentimental value is difficult to match.

I did not carve this one, but it's an extremely painstaking task. Some stones are easier to work with than others, as the cleavage of the gemstone itself matters in what directions you can hack at it from, or else risk cleaving off huge bits. Once a general shape has been made, you can cut finer details into it with a rotary shaft or dremel, then polish it up. I've seen some lapidarists be able to produce works like this in under a few hours, but generally it can be a very lengthy process, especially if mistakes are made, or to clean up larger bits of removal.
There are flashes of blues and greens within this still, as it is my only complaint that if the carver angled this just a tiiiiiiny bit more to one side, many more of the colors would evenly flash. But yes, there is a ton more gold pigments in this one. I still quite adore it regardless. :B
