Aside from Google, I know they actually sell CDs with tracks of every sound FX you ever heard, sold by category (toony, scary, explosions, etc).

The Complete Sound Effects Library by Sony. 10 discs of sound effects. Alright, they're not really toony, but I imagine you could use some of them with a little editing...

They make other sets, too. Only one I know of off-hand though.

There are some online databases for sound effects, but I can't remember what they are off the top of my head. Alot of the flash artists at newgrounds use them though, so I'd poke around on the forums over there.

If your able to find such, look up MAD magazine's Don Martin. He made up more crazy sounds in his drawings than I've seen anywhere.

Tried Amazon? All I did was type in "sound effects cd" and "sound effects downloads" and they had lots to offer (and even suggested other searches to try).

MORE people need that to happen to them!

Check your local library, if you haven't already. At least a couple I've visited had several of the BBC's discs. Don't know what the licensing terms are like, but you could preview the effects, at least.

With so many things I would like to do; and not enough time for me do everything. I don't have a sound effects library available for the sale or even freebie. But I can comment on the creation of sound effects.

With a good microphone (as long as it's not el cheapo), a mic input to your computer and a microphone stand (not needed but hand held can introduce unwanted noise), along with some sound editing software and you would be surprised with what you can do. Many great sound effects of the past was done with simple tools that where were used straight or with minor editing (minor as just speeding up or slowing down the play back speed).

Tools, believe it or not: balloon, BB's as in BB gun, packing peanuts, bubble wrap, dripping water in your sink on different materials, toy whistles, match sticks, etc.

Special Note: blow up a balloon, put a BB in it (safer if you add after you blow up the balloon) and spin the BB around the inside or bounce it. That's how simple it can be and it doesn't cost that much.
