Finally getting around to posting a bunch of art I've been hoarding. This is a ref sheet for a Pokémon character I commissioned from
kerokamina
The following is a stat table and a huge ass blurb about him and a good bit about his Trainer (Basically my self insert) in the context of my Pokemon world in "Pokemon: Paradigm Shift" (P:PS)
Name: Simmone
Species: Passimian
Gender: Cis Male
Type: Fighting
Base stats*: 80/120/90/40/60/100
Nature: Lax (- Sp.Atk + Speed**)
EV Distribution: 252 Atk / 4 Def /252 Spe
Ability: Receiver***
Held Item: Mallea-Ball****
Moveset: Seed Bomb, Smack Down*****, Athletattack******, Gunk Shot
Background: Simmone was born into the Melemele Greens to Passimian parents, yet he never had the chance to know his father who passed in a brutal territory battle when he was very young. Being the sentimental type, the aged helmet he wears is the only thing he has left from his dad. When he became of age to meander on his own safely, his unwillingness to stay in one place too terribly long lead him to bounce himself around all of the Passimian Troops of Alola, leaving none with bad blood. He honors them all with the colors he wears, but never forgetting his home troop represented by the single green leaf on his back. After leaving the last troop, Simmone would take up residence in Vast Poni Canyon. The abundance of powerful Pokémon and Trainers there was intimidating, but he was never the type to back down from a challenge. He had learned his way around all of Poni Island with the help of a kind natured female Sensu Oricorio whom he became very good friends with. Thanks to her guidance and his determination, he became very strong. When the Oricorio left to live the rest of her life with another Trainer, she would give Simmone a single fan feather to remember her by at his request, which he wears in his helmet between the two leaves. Her leaving with a Trainer made him ponder doing the same. With his newfound strength he confidently felt he could do well in professional combat against other Trainers around the world with his own to back him up. The prospect of traveling was also very appealing to him. So it was decided: the very next Trainer to defeat him would be his battling companion should they allow it. He wouldn't have to wait but a week before a young man named Gray, who just so happened to have one more slot on his team before tackling the region's Pokémon League, would come along and do just that. Simmone took a liking to both the Friend Ball that contained him and to training and battling professionally very quickly thanks to Gray's abundance of prior experience and his own tussling in Poni. Simmone was at first uneasy about all of the adjustments Gray was making to his person: the stat adjustments, the moveset changes, and most notably, replacing the usual berry ball his species was known to carry with a strange sphere like item with shape changing properties he had never seen before. However, after seeing first hand how much more successful and consistent his performance became in battle, he had come to respect his new Trainer. After finishing the Pokémon League Challenge and being registered in Alola's Hall of Fame, they could finally unwind for a bit as he, Gray and the rest of the team would fly off to his Trainer's parent's home in Unova as he would always do between regional quests. This time was special though, as Alola had made for Gray's 8th Pokémon League Hall of Fame registry, promoting him to the rank of Contender (Formal title: "Sword of God") for the title of World Champion ("The Lord Our God"). All that was left was a trek up to King's Mountain Summit on the mysterious Paradise Island where most Contenders would fail before even battling the legendary Four Principles ("The Supreme Heavenly Emperors") for the right to challenge the Champion directly. Much merriment was had, but much anxiety and frustration brewed in Gray. Simmone took notice and was the first to go out of his way to comfort him. Those close to Gray encouraged him to take an extended break before starting the last leg of his journey. He obliged, at first reluctantly, but would be grateful later on when he realized exactly how much he needed the time off. It was during this break that Gray and his Pokémon grew closer, but his bond with Simmone flourished most of all. Friends became friends with benefits, which became boyfriends and then finally life partners. Simmone did a great deal to soften Gray's heart and ease his worries, breaking his barriers and allowing Gray to be vulnerable and intimate with someone after many years of calculated stoicism and a life without love. He would even come to adopt Simmone's lax and care free personality and the mantra "It is what it is". Although he would eventually take the challenge, Gray would never make it past a single one of The Four Principles. The experience, however, did allow him to settle down with a core team of six Pokémon he was happy with, the premier star being Simmone. Regardless of the failure they were still one of the highest ranking teams on the planet as Contenders and still made a great deal of money in the process. Preferring a spontaneous, nomadic lifestyle, Gray and Simmone would never stay in one place for too long. With Gray's blessing, Simmone would take advantage of the money they made to indulge himself in a variety of hobbies. He wouldn't stick with any of them for more than a month, which prompted a slightly frustrated but now very tolerant Gray to become a part time mobile merchant to get rid of the stuff Simmone would lose interest in that wouldn't fit in Gray's recently acquired bungalow hidden in the trees of Johto's Lake of Rage. Gray wouldn't mind, as it was a labor of love and Simmone had contributed more than anyone aside from his own parents to his happiness and well being.
Notable traits (some of which are also well portrayed in the image):
- Friendly unless someone gives him a reason to not be
- Doesn't take anything too seriously, but still tries his hardest in serious battles for Gray
- Very sentimental; loves keepsakes
- Never commits to a hobby for an extended period of time
- Loyal to those he loves
- Determined to a fault to accomplish a given task
* Canon Passimian base stats in P:PS
** Changed with a mint to have the described effect on stats rather than what a Lax nature normally does
*** Receiver, in P:PS, copies the ability of the last Pokémon that had appeared in the place of the Pokémon with Receiver, regardless of whether or not they have fainted.
**** Signature item of Passimian in P:PS which boosts the power of all ballistic moves by 50%.
***** In P:PS, Smack Down is a base 50 power Rock type ballistic move with 100 Accuracy which doubles in power when it knocks a target down onto the ground.
****** Athletattack is a signature move of Passimian in P:PS. It is a physical, ballistic move with 80 base power and 90 Accuracy which has a 20% chance to make the target flinch. Its type changes to match the secondary type of the user and is Fighting type if the user has no secondary type.
