A Preschooler and a Baby Part 2
A Preschooler and a Baby Part 2
It's been a couple of days since Adam and Spitfire met and everything was doing well. Of course, they couldn't play together when Spitfire was working or napping, but it's not always playtime. While there is a major age gap between the two dragons, age is just a number, and Adam will hear a lot about numbers today as he was getting ready for another day at preschool, where he could tell everyone about his new friend. After breakfast of course, every little dragon needs food in their tummy before they leave.
"Hi Adam," said Spitfire as he sat down while holding a glass of milk, "are you ready fun a super fun day at school today." Adam nods with a grin on his face and says, "I sure am, Mr. Spitfire." "You don't have to add "mister" to my name, little buddy," Spitfire said "we're friends." Just then, the toaster finished toasting Adam's "pop tarts." "I'll get that for you," said Spitfire as he got up. Spitfire put the pastries on a paper plate and gave them to Adam. "Thank you," Adam said. "Your welcome," said Spitfire as he put more "pop tarts" into the toaster. "Aren't those just cookies," asked Elsina. Spitfire and Adam just looked at each other and shrugged. "I'm not saying that's a bad thing," said Elsina, "I know that there's a market for that kind of stuff. Spitfire's "pop tarts" pop out of the toaster. "I'll get a few pull-ups for you, Adam," said Elsina, "nobody expects a potty chart to be perfect."
After they were done with breakfast, Spitfire got up and went to his computer. "What is Spitfire doing," asked Adam. "He's going to work," answered Elsina. "But he's just sitting next to his computer," said Adam. "He works from home," replied Adam. "What do you do?," asked Adam. "I work at a day care center," said Elsina, "I like working with children like you." "But I have the cooler job," said Spitfire. "Well yeah," said Elsina while putting a bottle of apple juice on his desk, "because you get to drink from a sippy cup." Spitfire giggles while he takes out his notes. "Ready to go, Adam," said Elsina. "I already went potty," said Adam. "No, silly," said Elsina, "I mean go to school." Adam nods and gets his backpack. They both say "bye" to Spitfire and he waves back before they leave.
"Do you wanna listen to some music," asked Elsina. "Sure," said Adam while sitting in his car seat. "Here's one you might like," she says while holding an album, "it's the "Bluey" soundtrack." "That show is the bestest," said Adam. "Spitfire would have to agree with you," said Elsina as she put the disc in the player. "Yay, Bluey," said Adam as the first track started. Only the best music will do.
They arrive at Adam's preschool. "Don't forget your backpack," said Elsina as she gave it to Adam. "Thank you," he said before he started to run to the front door. "Hey, wait for me," said Elsina as she started to chase after him. Adam was laughing during the whole chase, which caused Elsina to begin laughing with him. He only stopped when he got to the front door. "Whoa," said Elsina, "you don't let your little legs stop you from running." "My mommy says the same thing," replied Adam, "I'm also learning to fly fast." "It's no wonder why your potty chart has only a few 'wet' stickers," said Elsina. "I like using the potty because I want to be big," said Adam. "Ya know," said Elsina, "you remind of me when I was little, now lets get inside, so you won't be late, okay." Adam nods and they both go inside.
When they come inside the school, they are welcomed by a female gecko. "Well, hello there Adam," she says while he comes running, so he can be hugged by her again. "Oh, I guess I should explain," said Elsina, "my boyfriend and I are looking after him while his parents are away for a little trip." "Oh, there's no reason to explain dear," the gecko said, "his mom told me." Elsina gives a sigh of relief after hearing this and bends down to Adam's eye level. "Something tells me that you're going to have a fun time today," said Elsina while still bending down. "He especially loves story time and nap time," said the gecko. "The best times of the day," said Elsina. "See you later Adam and uh," Elsina said before realizing she didn't know the gecko's name. "You can call me Mia," said the gecko. "Got it," said Elsina while waving her right claw at them, "see you later Mia and Adam." They waved back.
Adam holds Mia's hand as they walk to the classroom. "Guess what you're going to do today," asked Adam. Adam thought for a second while they were still walking before answering with, "uh, nap time." "Well, yes that," she said, "but even better." Adam got a confused look on his face. "I've brought some "play doh" with me," she said. Adam's eyes lit up immediately after she said that. He knew that cookies were made from dough, but whenever he tried to touch that kind of dough, he would be stopped, this is the exception. He didn't know what that word meant, but it didn't matter. "Spitfire, would love this," he thought to himself. Mia opened the door to the classroom and Adam quickly walked inside, knowing that today would be awesome.
Just like every other day at school, Adam walks inside the classroom and immediately puts his backpack in his cubby and goes to sit at one of the two big tables in the classroom, though he preferred to sit close to where the bathroom is, just in case he almost forgets to go potty. His fellow classmates were from a variety of species: there were cats, dogs, rabbits, squirrels, and other creatures, as well as some other scaled ones such as himself. In Mia's class, it was okay for any students who were still in diapers or pull-ups to go without pants, just in case anyone needed a fresh pair. By the way, that was all the students. Adam managed to find the perfect place to talk with his friends, as well be close to the potty. He was very eager to tell his friends about his cool new friend. Though before he could say anything, Mia had an announcement.
"Good morning class," said Mia. "Good morning, Mrs. Shelly," said all the students in response. "Today, you're going to be making art," she said. The majority of the class was confused by what she just said. The room was filled with questions like, "how do you make that" and "what's art." Mia lowered their voices by making a "shh" sound with her mouth. Once again, the students were focusing on her. Satisfied with the fact that all attention was back on her, she then proceeded to get out the "play doh," that was in one of the drawers in her desk. Adam felt pretty cool about this, as he felt he was the first one to know about this. While the room was still pretty much silent for when Mia was getting the containers, the noise grew when all the students found out what they would be doing today.
While she was once again calming the students down (but could you blame them), Mia was still wondering where her assistant was. She knew that Mrs. Hampton had a lot of paperwork (though that was the same with Mia), but she would've of been here by now. Those thoughts were only in her head for a couple of minutes though, as while each student was being given a container, a meerkat came running through the entrance. "I'm so sorry I'm late," the meerkat apologized, "there was some troublesome traffic going on." "It's okay," responded Mia, "this stuff happens." Mia continued to give out containers to the students. Adam was given blue "play doh" and he was happy with this as he knew what he wanted to make.
After each student was given a container, it was time for the creations to begin. Adam found this to be a great opportunity to tell his friends about whom he met, as his creation would relate to it. Adam knew what he wanted to make with his dough, "Sonic." "Hey Adam," asked someone next to him, "who is that?" "It's this really cool guy that I watched on TV a couple of days ago," Adam replied, "not only that, but on the same day I met the most awesomest grown up ever." "Is he the coolest?," asked another student. Adam replied with a simple, "yes." "We also colored together," he continued. Now, this wasn't unusual for these students to do this with adults, but with Spitfire being young at heart, it gave him a huge edge. During this whole conversation, Adam continued to make a sculpture of "Sonic."
The students had an entire hour to make whatever they wanted. For the majority of the students, it was mostly characters from "The Lion Guard,""Paw Patrol," and the like (though because each student had only one color, compromises had to be made.) During that time, Adam was still talking about his new friend and how much he can relate with him. Halfway through, while Adam was putting in the finishing touches and nature was starting to call his name as he realized that he had to make a tinkle. He quickly got off his chair and ran to Mia. "Are you okay, Adam," Mia asked. "I have to go potty," he said to her. Mia motioned Mrs. Hampton and pointed over to Adam, performing the potty dance. Mrs. Hampton run walked to Adam and held her hand to him. He nodded and grabbed her hand while he was still wiggling around. "Let's get you to the potty, mister," said Hampton as they run walked to the bathroom.
As soon as they entered the bathroom, Adam was practically doing a river dance when he was frantically waiting for Mrs. Hampton to put the potty seat on the toilet. "I really have to go potty," said Adam. She then gave off a gesture of telling him that he could go potty now. He then pulled down his training pants and flew to the potty. As he was waiting to be empty, he looked decided to look at his surroundings and noticed something different about Mrs. Hampton, but he wasn't quite sure what it was. Once he was finished, it became easier for him to find out what it was. Every time she moved, he heard a crinkly sound, and he knew it wasn't from him. His suspicion rose once he started to put the pieces together.
He was so focused on the fact that one of his teachers may be wearing a diaper, that he didn't notice being asked if he was done. "Adam," repeated Mrs. Hampton, "are you still going potty?" "I'm done," answered Adam while he was getting off, so she could apply the toilet paper. "Are you okay, Adam?," she asked while wiping him. "Uh, yeah," he said, "I just thought that you were wearing a diapey." She paused for a second before finishing. She proceeded to hide her diaper by pulling down on her shirt. "Well, there are grown-ups that wear diapers even though they don't need them," she whispered to him. "Why?," he whispered. "Well, there are grown-ups like me that like acting like babies," she whispered. "Even those that need diapers?," he asked. "Well, I suppose at least some of them," she answered, "why do you ask?" "I know someone like that," he answered. They both paused for a second before continuing. "Well, we better get out before someone else has to go potty," she said as she walked toward the door. "Mrs. Hampton," asked Adam, "what book is Mrs. Shelly going to read for story time today?" "We will just have to wait and see," said Mrs. Hampton.
