Iksis Wren, Dragonborn Bard Extraordinaire!
“Am I a lady? Let me tell you something: I’m as much a lady as you are a man. When I was younger, I made the fortunate mistake of donning a cursed girdle - one which transformed me, albeit temporarily, into a woman. I developed a taste for it, how I moved, how I looked, how I felt…I wanted to stay that way, forever. Now the girdle’s gone, and in its place I drink this potion. A dram, a drought, every day or so, to stay this way, to look like I do now. It will be permanent, one day, but it’s a part of me. I am a girl, a lady, a lass, a woman…just as much as you are a man. Warlocks need their Patrons, the sick need their medicine, sheep need shearing, it’s all part of the cycle, and I take no shame in that.”
Iksis Wren, the Songthrush, the Wine-scaled woman, is a hapless-yet-debonnair Dragonborn Bard who frequents settlements along the Sword Coast in the summer months, for better or for worse. A recent graduate from the College of Lore, Wren is more dedicated to storytelling and wordcraft, poetry and loresmithery than music or public speaking. A consummate writer, the bawdy, buxom bard can often be found in taverns, inns, and taphouses, chronicling heroic adventures, spinning tall tales, or wooing starry-eyed maidens with a sharp tongue and sharper wit.
However…much to the dragonborn’s chagrin, most of her work goes unappreciated by sober, straight-minded, or more conventional folk. Iksis’ singular published work - Philanthropod, an epic poem about a generous and good natured Mind Flayer - sits on dusty shelves within the pages of Elminster’s Almanac Of Lesser Faerunian Poets, Volume 19 - to date the lowest selling compendium in the Sage’s extensive catalog of works.
Wren left her family soon after the ‘girdle incident’ - experiencing a crisis of identity and questioning her place in the world. Deep in her cups one fateful evening in a tavern, Iksis overheard a traveling bard reciting tales of treasure and glory, adventure and heroics - and of a heroic draconian from another realm - one whose natural form was male, but preferred to take the shape of an elven maiden. Inspired by stories of someone much like herself - and perhaps a little inebriated - Iksis Wren resolved to seek out thrilling tales of her own, and joined the College of Lore so she could chronicle them and write stories that inspired others. But most importantly, she felt a sudden realization, of who she wanted to be, what she wanted to be…and set out to become the woman she is today.
Meet my D&Dsona, PHENOMENALLY designed by the hyper-talented
marco-marco - my dragonborn Iksis Wren is a buxom, bawdy bard prone to reciting poetry ad-nauseam, lusting after ladies with dirty limericks, and scribbling down notes in the wee hours of the morning to sate her slightly-geeky fascinations with mythical wildlife and daring heroes.

What it was that initially sparked Ms. Iksis's love of writing and poetry? Was this something she had with her since childhood or was it something that she cultivated a love for later on in life? Also, I'm guessing that either she has no memory of her previous life... or she purposely chooses to push it to the farthest corners of her mind?
