Ice and fire going up against each other could end up more or less neutralising each other or producing large amounts of steam that obscure the battlefield. It could come down to close quarters then and the dragonborn does look like he'd have the edge in agility and might well be craftier.
Perhaps as the steam is obscuring the wolf's vision, a tail sweep might take him off his feet and dragonborn can then perhaps pin him with a joint lock and maybe force the wolf to surrender under the threat of administering a belly rub.
