The youngest of his family (though also the biggest), Ace Play has a gamer's blood since his foalhood, with video games being his passion.
You can clearly tell Ace was born with a game controller in his hoof as he has been gaming when he was a little colt - including these meant for older ponies - and also it’s how he received his cutie mark representing this talent.
Although Ace got his gaming skills without much effort, his only challenge is making friends with anypony. Ace didn’t have an easier time doing that back in his school days, and because of his big shyness he also couldn't say a word to his classmates, whether other colts or fillies - he feared anypony would judge him for being too interested in games and not having other, less-addictive hobbies, thus making him silent and not-talkative
As time passed, Ace made friends with a mare he fanboys over - with Pinkie Pie. With her around, he feels more comfortable than he could possibly get - but he has yet to get used to her quirky and hyperactive personality.
Their friendship began in and outside the Sugarcube Corner - Ace met Pinkie when he ordered his lunch. Pinkie, seeing a lone stallion sitting there, felt sorry for him and attempted to cheer him up by delivering his lunch with "appreciation" things (like a heart on his latte). After lunch, when Ace left the building in a dull mood, she decided to follow him to see why he's sad. They've met, in person, at Ponyville park, and once Pinkie asked Ace why he's not happy, he responded back saying he's feeling lonely - to which she asked if he wants to be his friend. At first reluctant, Ace eventually agreed to befriend her, thus starting their everlasting friendship.
Ace is currently jobless and is financially supported by his parents, but he tries his best to earn money himself, whether trying to actually get a job or earn it through his hobbies.
To this day, Ace is still on a quest to make friends with others, which would be so much easier for him if he wasn't so shy, thus he counts on help from his parents, his older sibling and the pink mare friend
