Bah, fat doesn't keep you warm half as well as adjustment. My fat assed cousin could hardly stand the usual South Bend cold without a blanket and some bitching.
We're talking a 200 plus kid who had to wrap up when there wasn't even snow on the ground. I got by with a thin t-shirt because I like the cold, and I get out in it. As a mammal the brown fat in your body will naturally start burning stored white fat to warm you. That's why we rule the world and lizards don't.
The cold, I've heard, actually helps you stay thin. Meaning that the heater in your house, combined with excessive consumption of carbohydrates (which become fat when not burned) will likely make you fat all on it's own.

Don't worry about it. Remember, the cold only effects you if you allow it to.
As a mammal the cold is your bitch, treat it as such.
That said, a pair of synth/wool blend socks cant work well. They're warm, breath, wick water away, and unlike regular wool they don't itch. I wear them year round.
