Gryphon's Musing #1: Mythos and Mythologie (First Iterati...
Heya Everyone,
Finally getting around to world building with the first Gryphon's Musings where Teebs is narrating about the world and potential background stories of characters etc as the splendid historian he is. the end goal is probably to set up a world that would work as a DnD style campaign but also a place for people to interact and make characters for. It's going to be a area for all my different factions (Vuul, Demonflight, murkmites etc etc), characters like Teebs to be able to build a comprehensive setting for them all.
That said, it is still a work in progress (hences typos etc), youll notice I still dont have a perfect idea into all hte aspects so it is normal that some of it is a bit vague.
Here is also a little diagram with all the gods. https://www.dropbox.com/s/hjzc9nbvo.....20map.png?dl=0 Its arranged like a political chart, with vertical axis being how "ethereal" they are or mortal (cosmic gods cant interact with the mortal plane, mortal gods can die etc) and the horizontal axis being where they stand as either creative or destructive forces in a sort of yin and yang. This should not be confused for "good vs evil" I try very hard to avoid this simplified concept for a more grey area of each diety.

Damn, ahh, I was planning to read it the second I saw it come up but, life happened I guess.
That was, a brilliant explanation of, well the worldbuilding and the sorta in universe way the text is done is a great way of doing it.

Well would you say the manifestation of destruction is necessarily evil? It only seeks to reclaim what was taken from it. It has no bounds on "morality" in a mortal sense. The Seers who represent creation constantly do evil and good, but all living creatures would probobly frown upon the void as its success would mean the cessation of their existence. So I think its a matter of subjective perspective there! Destruction and Creation are both natural forces constantly in balance, and is it necessarily evil to submit to the entropy that will consume us all or fight against it? Its a philosophical conundrum more than an affiliation. After all mustn't one destroy a star to create a new one?
I don't consider destruction, in itself, to be evil, because I realize that, in real-world logic/physics, the destruction or transformation of existing things is necessary for the creation of new things, and for the chemical reactions that drive life itself. Only intelligent, living beings can be concerned with good and evil.
To be evil in my view, one has to have the desire to deliberately harm others, either in the selfish pursuit of other goals, or for the mere pleasure of doing so; "pure" evil would be having the latter as one's only motivation (other that the survival instinct).
