Can someone tell me what the hell is wrong with my cat?
Serious time guys.
Mew, my gray tabby, has been clawing the hell out of his forehead for a few weeks now and its getting really bad. The vet we're taking him to says its probably an allergy to something, gives him an antibiotics injection, and says to just hope it goes away when winter comes and sends all the plants into hibernation.
Thing is, I'm afraid it might be something worse and he's looking REALLY bad. Like super duper holyshitfuck bad.
I'm worried about my cat, a lot.
I figure among us furries there may be a few cat lovers or maybe even other veteranarians who can give me a second opinion about the little guy.
COMMENTS PLEASE! I want some feedback so I can at least feel like I've done something for him. Sorry for the crappy quality, but all I had to take it with was my DSi.

Fleas can be carried in. Unless you live in a climate where they can't survive, do NOT assume just because they haven't gone outside means they can't catch something. Humans are carriers of pests too, and if you've had an interaction (known or not) with an infected animal it might pass over too. Not to make you scared, just so you're aware.
Point taken, but I'm almost never around other animals. I work at a gas station and the most I'll see is if someone is walking a dog when I'm on my way to work.
As for the only other human living with me, my mother, she works at an elementary school and the only animals they have there are a couple hamsters that never see the outside of the building (and knowing the kids usually don't see the end of the school year either).

If it's looking worse than when the vet looked at them/gave them antibiotics, you best call them and tell them that. If they don't know, they can't fix or try something else. Not all vets are great though, maybe either get a second opinion, but at least make them aware of the problem (if its continuing, not sure as I read your description what the sequence of events is...did you actually take him in or...?).
Any opinion you'll get here will be limited, since most people need to do a physical/run tests before they can actually give you a clear answer. Without that info, they're guessing for the most part too.

That's good, try and see someone else if possible, just for variety's sake. Heck, that's saved me on a few of my own trips to the doctors.
In the mean time just keep an eye on him, maybe keep a diary on its condition (ie things you note about behavior, worsening scabs, etc). Make sure he's got clean water/food and be sure to clean out the catbox daily if you don't already (heck maybe clean the box itself, just in case). If it is in infection of some kind, you can cut down on it picking it up again by doing that stuff.

It might be, some animals are sensitive so maybe remember the brand name next time, like put it on the list. And mention you use liners.
Some cats have some really weird allergies too *shrug* But best of luck and it's good you care, and sorry some people are snapping at you - the community is too used to people who *just* ask here and then don't do anything in real life, so I think people are worried about that. But you are, and that's good, so be comforted in knowing that you're doing what you can.

Take him to a different vet.
My friend brought her cat to the vet because he was sick. The vet told her he had chronic kidney failure and he needed to be put down as soon as possibly.
Not wanting to put him down just yet she brought him to a different vet and it turned out that he only had the common cold.

looks like it could be mites but really I would say allergy,
Food alergies can occur even with foods your cat has been on for a long time, one of my cats had a really bad anaphelectic chin, mildly funny till it started bleeding
Try switching cat food brands, cats can be allergic to beef or pork products

lol yeah sometimes they can't digest all teh stuff we put in our food, if for his diet's sake, maybe cut bakc on table scraps. Double check that for his age/weight you're giving him his dietary needs worth (ie like a cup or half cup, most bags should give you a measurement) and stick to that. I have seen way too many overweight kitties, it's never good for their health (its uber bad for them, sure we can gain like 5 lbs in a week, but for an animal that size it can be deadly. ee trying not to worry you, just something else to be aware of!)
