The current game module had been forwarded to Varan, along with images of the wedding. Meredith concluded the message with “I love you, Varan, and I hope that you’re doing well.”
The first two weeks after Fuji and Meredith arrived at Downtime Station were taken up with settling into their new quarters and going over the documentation that Transcosm had included with the new office space aboard the station. Coupled with this were the first shipping orders and manifests as cargo ships began to arrive.
In between this was time for the golden palomino and the Komodo monitor to explore the Terran side of the station and take advantage of the entertainment facilities. That section included a few areas equipped with variable gravity, so they could exercise.
Until they tried sex in null-grav.
“I warned you,” Fuji said as he held her mane out of the way as she puked.
She still felt nauseated later in the day, so she left Fuji to look after the office as she visited the station’s infirmary.
Fuji looked up from his padd as she walked in. His mate had an odd expression on her face. “Are you all right?” he asked.
“Hm? Yeah, I’m just fine . . . Daddy.”
The Komodo monitor’s reaction was interesting. His eyes widened and, in an almost feral manner, his long, forked tongue ran out to its full length before snapping back into his mouth. “Really?” he asked.
Meredith nodded and took her padd out of the pocket in her pink plaid skirt, opening it and quickly swiping her fingertips across the glossy surface. “Here,” she said, offering the device to him.
He took it and stared at the message: Zygote approximately eight days post-fertilization implanted right uterine wall. Viability currently one hundred percent.
Fuji looked up and grinned at her. “You feeling okay otherwise?”
“Yeah,” she replied warily.
“Great,” he said as he passed her padd back to her. “We need to go out to dinner to celebrate – and then we let everyone know.”
The mare’s grin suddenly matched his. “Great idea.”

Well, I have a headcanon for that, based a bit on Cartoon Logic., which I formulated for my Historical Furries gallery folder.
If you recall the old Warner Brothers cartoons and The Flintstones, when you see the offspring of different species, male offspring resemble the father and females the mother. This way, I could have the Hanoverian monarch Queen Victoria be a vixen when her father was a solid German horse, and her son (the future Edward VII) was also equine.
So we can possibly see a son look like Fuji, and a daughter look like Meredith, albeit with some minor differences.
