A belated birthday gift for

The farmhouse lay empty, shrouded in darkness. Those who lived there before left in a hurry, the threat upon their lives was greater than anything they could carry.
Food remained uneaten on the table, just as lights remained on, uncaring of the power which would be wasted.
The only sound that persisted through the house was the ticking of the grandfather clock, each tick echoing through the empty house. Then disruption as the sound of a motor came into shot, it stopped, only to be followed by a mechanical hydraulic buzz. The buzz itself was followed by footsteps, then by the sound of the key being placed into the front door, company had arrived.
The ghost hunters entered the farmhouse, surprised to see that lights were still on, yet they remained unphased, ready to discover the cause of the hauntings which plagued this house.
They filed in, the elk heading towards the kitchen, the wolf to the living room and the jackal to the foyer.
Only mere moments passed before a shout rang out “I found a board!” the elk yelled, filled with misplaced enjoyment.
The elk picked up the Ouija board and placed it onto the kitchen counter, knocking over salt and pepper shakers without care. “Where are you?” the elk asked the Ouija board rudely.
The elk then watched as the Ouija board spelled out the ghost room letter by letter.
“M-A-S-T-E-R-B-E-D-R-O-O-M” the elk spelled out, talking to himself, taking a few momentary seconds to piece together the letters into a word.
The letters clicked into the elk’s brain “Master bedroom! It’s in the master bedroom!” he yelled out.
Quick footsteps were heard as the wolf and the jackal rushed from their previous places to head to the master bedroom. The elk left the kitchen too, unwisely leaving the Ouija board active.
The Ouija board was not happy with being left alone as it began to glow and fracture.
Within the master bedroom, the ghost hunters had arrived, unknowing that certain death was waiting. The screech of the EMF reader rang out, reaching a 5 reading with a flashing red light.
The temperature dropped dramatically as breath could be visibly seen.
Quickly the display of epileptic flashes emerged as the torches began to blind and flash. Loud groans, cries of pain and anguish all roared out from the ghost which had materialised in the room’s doorway, directly behind the elk.
Within an instant, choking and cracking sounds were heard as the elk was being killed by the ghost.
The elk’s body dropped dead onto the floor before the remaining ghost hunters, the wolf was traumatised by what he just witnessed, his own sanity now in shreds.
The hunt had only just begun.
