So, starting at the end of the month I'm going to be doing volunteer work at a bird rescue. Aside from keeping the place clean, I'll also be working with the birds directly. To help me be better prepared for this task, I got a gorgeous huge book of bird species. One of the species I absolutely fell in love with was the Luzon Bleeding Heart (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luzon_Bleeding-heart). I had to draw one.
Uh, it didn't come out quite right. I may try again later. I need more characters like I need another hole in my head, but I'm already picturing her as being a trickster who likes to freak people out with her 'wound'.
Expect more bird art in general as I psyche myself up for this. Although I think if I had a 'birdsona' it'd be a pigeon. YEAH YEAH I know, flying rats blah blah. They are just doves with bad P.R. :C

Oh, now she's just all kinds of cool. I'd never even heard of those birds before, but they're certainly very striking! You know, it's kinda funny. In real life, I have a phobia of birds, though it's nowhere near as strong as it used to be. But I find that I actually like furry bird characters, at least as long as they aren't another Disney duck clone. And I think it's great that you'll be volunteering at a bird rescue. I admire anyone who helps animals out.
We have one of these little babies at our zoo who got rescued. Some punk kids shot it with bebes or an arrow or something, I don't remember exactly. Poor baby wound up losing a wing, but other than that he's doing great because of volunteers who took care of him. So glad to see you'll be doing something like that. :)

Awwww, that's so adorable. I've never heard of that sort of pigeon, I like how cute and round it's little body is. I love birds. <3 My own fursona (feathersona? birdsona? I guess it doesn't really matter) is a chickadee. I have a soft spot for "less flashy" birds as well as the pretty ones.
And I like pigeons. When I learned that doves were just "pretty pigeons" as a kid, I never forgot it.
