Duski hadn't been working Ninja Pizza Persians long, just about getting the hang of it after an intense week and already meeting enough weird characters for a lifetime, and warned that it would double as the weekend rush rolled around by a fellow driver as the two arrived, dressed colourfully in a cheesy polo shirt and cap and ready to take out their orders.
Duski greeted their grease stained boss as they look note of the incoming orders they were taking over from the last shift, spotting a familiar name at the top; J. SAUDAX.
The dog’s eyes widened in pleasant surprise, whipping out his phone as he waited for his bag to be stuffed with cheesy bread, and calling his cat companion.
“Hey hey, How's it going, Dusk?” Jake greeted with a casual tone, accompanied by some serious but faint beats.
“H–hey! Heck it sounds like you are at a party! Did you place an order for pizza by any chance?” Duski replied, caught off guard slightly and mildly disgruntled he was stuck working and missing out on a pizza party.
“Oh nonono, just seeing a buddy, really into his music, we had been chatting online for a while and realised we live locally! We’ve just been vibing and playing games all day, he’s awesome!” Jake explained happily.
“And uhhh, totally didn't plan on ordering a pizza just when you start, heh heh.” The feline badly convinced the canine.
“Hmm, don't think just because I’m delivering, you get out of tipping!” Duski said with a smirk.
“Dang! Okay fine, three slices and two nuggies sound good?” Jake proposed.
“Deal.” Duski said, taking their now toasty bag back from their boss as they nodded in thanks, off to start their shift…
…Pulling up to the place, Duski slipped out of the cosy hug of the seatbelt and warmth of the car, wandering up to the door as it squealed, locking itself and protecting other customers' pizzas inside.
The Deergi knocked on the door, cuddling the delicious dough contained in cardboard close, tapping their feet to the beat bursting out, almost vibrating the floor under him.
Jake answered, swinging open the door with a blank expression, a set of almost oversized but snazzy headphones wrapping around his ears and surprisingly keeping his hair perfect.
“Hey!...” Duski greeted their friend with a wide smile, to be met with awkward silence, their expression unchanging as they simply stared back at the antlered dog before them, totally vacant, as their eyes almost seemed to pulse to the tune now escaping the heated house.
“Jake! Don’t be rude, invite the nice pizza boy in!” A loud voice boomed, Jake seemingly following orders as they opened the door wider with a nod.
Duski looked back in utter bemusement, before out of obligation, wandering into the abode, clutching his pizza as he walked into the living room from the front door, and was met with an absolute unit of a croc leaning against the wall.
“Oh-ho! Jake is this the friend you were talking about earlier? Not gonna lie, he is as cute as you said he was.” The croc croaked, moving closer as he towered over them, taking the hot boxes away and gently throwing them on the sofa.
“Thanks for the snack, kid, what do we owe ya?”
“Oh uhh, I think you already paid, online orders and all.” Duski blushed at the earlier complement, doubly so as his friend said so, anxiously rubbing the back of his neck and slightly regretting walking into a strangers house, even if they were frankly pretty good themselves.
“L-look, I better get going, I um, have quite a few stops tonight, and the pizzas are getting cold…” Duski whimpered, looking back at his blank friend, still stuck like a statue holding the door open.
“Nonsense! We haven't even split the pizza yet, what was it, three slices of pepperoni?” Vector bashfully brushing off Duski’s concerns, as they looked over as the stack of tasty treats.
“Besides, theres something I wanna show you quick, Jake says you’ll love it!” The green giant grinned.
“Yes, you’ll love it.” Jake agreed, letting the door close as they turned their attention to their friend.
Duski’s tail stood on its own as the door clacked close, watching his buddy marching over to him like a zombie.
“O-Okay now I really have to get go-”
Plonk~! Vector dropped his headphones on Duski toonishly, fitting over their ears as he held the head strap like a handle, as if holding the dog up like a furry bag.
“Awwwww come on, you gotta listen to this, its just getting to the good bit! Haha!” Vector boasted, leaning back down over the confuzzled canine as he locked his muscular arm protectively around them, the other making sure the headphones were secure as Duski felt their mind being massaged by the vibrations of ear bursting loud music, his brain cells rattling and dropping out of his mind as they were frantically shaken by screeching electric guitars, loosing his balance as if he was in the middle of an earthquake, it certainly sounded like one.
“U-Uwaaah~!!” Duski moaned, flopping over himself as the hulking crocodile jock playfully held them down and made sure they were okay, Jake kneeling down to trap their friends legs, eager for them too to listen to the sick beats.
“Ugh, I didn't realise you two were total weaklings! Don't worry, when I’m done with you, you’ll have the best taste in music!” Vector announced, watching the dog transforming into a totally brainless dumb jock in real time.
Needless to say, the boys ended up with a lot of pizza, and the pizza place ended up with a lot of complaints…
