Part one featuring my end of a trade series between me and AzulunaStudio from ToyHouse!
Warwick gazed softly ahead of him while driving down the road in his AMC Javelin AMX 'Defiant', his green eyes in a soft glow while paying attention to the road. It was another day of work for him, checking submissions and patting people down; for the striped hyena himself, this is no easy task.
Working as a bouncer for the Starlight Tavern is anything but ordinary and easy. This bar area is a hotspot for criminals and gangs alike; a few of the confrontations Warwick had in the past involved gangs. In fact, Warwick himself was a former gang member involved with smuggling and turf detail. He also had many encounters with the police but he's only been arrested once. But once he was released, he changed for the better and began turning his life around for his own benefit too.
The striped hyena has been clean since then; he even went into professional fighting and enrolled in the MMA league where he has been training to be a professional fighter in the discipline. Not only that but he also has his own mercenary team, which he is in command of.
Pulling up near the Starlight Tavern, Warwick maneuvers his Javelin into a parking space, pulling in between a red first-generation Ford Thunderbird behind him and a navy blue Shelby Daytona Coupe in front. After parking, he shuts off the 6.2L Supercharged HEMI V8 and takes the key out of the ignition before exiting, opening the car door and climbing out.
Stepping out of his AMC Javelin AMX 'Defiant', Warwick pockets his car key while proceeding towards the bar to take up a position near the entrance. During his walk to the entrance, he happens to bump into another figure as a result of not paying attention.
"Whoa, sorry. I didn't see you." Warwick steps back to give the figure some personal space. But upon closer inspection, the figure is actually a striped hyena like him, same build, same stripe color; only difference is that this one has darker fur and light golden eyes. The attire for this hyena is a gold-orange suit.
Though taken aback at first by the sudden unexpected bump, the rival hyena is quick to chastise Warwick with his sharp tongue, "Hey, watch where you're going you--" that is, until he gets a good look at Warwick, analyzing his features and overall appearance.
Warwick appears slightly amused and put off at the same time while folding his arms. While surveying the attire, he assumes, "Are you the leader of some kind of mafia family here?"
"Oh no no no! You see, I'm the leader of the Gold Devil Association. You can ask the lovely lady inside." The suited hyena informs while pointing to the front entrance of the tavern. Warwick arches an eyebrow at him and queries, "What is your name, by the way?"
"Call me Spencer. That's all I'm giving out." He winks at Warwick, hoping to send the signal to the recipient. Warwick, on the other hand, grows cautious but he lets it slide. This gives Warwick the opportunity to introduce himself as well, only if he had the swift chance to speak.
"I told you misfits to get out!!!" Three different furs are thrown out of the Tavern, having been shoved outside by a fuming female wolf. Scarlet happened to arrive at the worst possible time upon seeing the two hyenas, both of whom she recognized immediately.
"Warwick! You're early on arriving today! I thought you'd be arriving later on!" Scarlett exclaims in surprise upon seeing the hyena bouncer. The three furs she had thrown out begin scampering in different directions to split up, thus avoiding her wrath.
Warwick rubs his neck in response, turning to face Scarlett while replying, "I was just coming to clock in when I encountered this guy next to me," he points to Spencer and goes on to continue, "I was just arriving on time like I normally do. But why do you say I'm early?"
Scarlett's response is simple, though she began sweeping. "Because you normally arrive later than usual. And your presence here seems to have an effect on these gang members too." She smirked at that last part while staring pointedly at Warwick.
Spencer was listening in on the conversation when he directed his light golden eyes to Warwick, "What's the big deal with you? What makes you so special to this place that the barkeep favors you here?"
Upon hearing this, Warwick turns bashful while rubbing his neck, closing his green eyes while a nervous, toothy smile is present on his features. He opens his eyes afterwards and explains, "Ah, nothing special really; I used to be in a gang myself until I got arrested. Took up MMA and other avenues of professional fighting and whatnot."
Spencer's eyes inflate in astonishment from listening to Warwick relate his brief backstory. The gang leader regards the striped hyena bouncer with a side-eyed, scrutinizing glare with his own ears straight up. "Did I just hear that right? You said you're a former gang member?"
Warwick merely nods to Spencer, adding, "Yep, former gang member and smuggler. The rest is private, so no prodding, okay?" He sticks his finger out to Spencer and prods the rival hyena on the chest while giving out his warning of confidentiality.
Though Warwick's poking is light, Spencer actually felt his claw digging in, causing him to step back. The gang leader fully understands the message, raising his hands up in understanding. He then smirks and nudges Warwick lightly while whispering, "No need to worry; your secret is safe with me."
"Spencer! We have a job now! Where are you?" A new male voice calls out from inside the bar. And out steps a muscular male wolverine wearing a navy blue muscle T-shirt and light blue ripped jeans with a golden-orange emblem of a snarling face on the left side of his chest. He happens to notice the group and he saunters over. "There you are, I've been looking for you!"
Before Spencer could speak, the wolverine's eyes trail over to Warwick and before the bouncer could speak, the wolverine grows disgusted, "Spencer, who is this chump? Why are you talking with that ugly sucker?"
Warwick crosses his arms, appearing offended by the wolverine. "Excuse me? I'd keep that mouth in check if I were you?" He then casts an apologetic gaze to Scarlett, who returns the gesture with one of her own when she steps in.
The she-wolf steps in and turns to the wolverine, "If you want to fight, you have no business being here. I am not allowing more collateral damage to pile up because of some dumb species barrier or rivalry. So you can do us all a favor and get lost!"
Spencer slaps the wolverine on the back of the head, hissing, "Baron, you do not insult a fellow hyena like that! Learn some respect!"
Baron only rubs the area where he got hit while shooting Warwick a death glare, growling at him. The wolverine shakes his fist at Warwick as a sign of an upcoming fight and turns away to leave when he freezes, whirling partially to do a double take at a golden car before him. Immersed in the appearance, the wolverine wonders, "Whoa, what kind of fancy car is that?"
"Oh so you like my car now? Last time I recall, you hated my guts." Warwick steps forward to meet the wolverine, armed with a smug smirk on his muzzle. The striped hyena turns to the wolverine and even Spencer approaches to glimpse the golden muscle car.
"Say, Warwick, what car is that? Is it yours?" Spencer implies while surveying the vehicle.
"Yep! It's all mine;" Warwick responds cheerfully while folding his arms. He steps between the two gangsters and the golden vehicle while going on to explain, "it is an AMC Javelin AMX 'Defiant'. This vehicle is a beast on the road. Nearly 1100 horsepower, max. And it comes packed too; armed with a 6.2L Supercharged HEMI V8 underneath the hood."
Baron pales at the face in fear, while Spencer remains composed, although he did look inquisitive. "A 6.2L Supercharged HEMI V8? Isn't that ripped directly from the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat? We use the Plymouth Hemi Cuda as our choice of vehicle."
"Well then, you might want to upgrade to either a "TorC" Weaver Customs or a Barracuda HEMI-S from Garrett's Rod Shop." Warwick smirked again, arching an eyebrow at both of them.
The gangsters glimpse at each other and turn their attention back to Warwick in return. Spencer acknowledges, "We'll take your offer up on it, but for now, the Hemi Cuda is a durable vehicle. We appreciate your offer though."
"You sure you don't want to ride in it? I need to get to my post." Warwick offers in return. He awaits their answers when they collectively shake their heads with Spencer acknowledging, "You can give us a quick ride later."
The green-eyed striped hyena nods, beginning to walk away to head to his post. "Nice talking and doing business with you; see you two later!"
