Concept drawing of Krystal I later adopted for my Starfox animations. I took something of a creative liberty with her outfit. I was never really comfortable with Krystal's attire in Starfox Adventures - it was too minimalist for my liking. Her outfit from Starfox Assault onwards I felt was too much in the other direction and didn't really suit her personality - at least my interpretation of it. I was aiming for something of a middle ground - something unique to her but not too out of place among the other Starfox members (she does also wear the Starfox jacket with this). Though as I type this I've realised there's no reason why she couldn't have the regular Starfox uniform. Hmm.

I'll respectfully disagree with you on the Adventures outfit, but I don't see any harm in giving her a new outfit that's follows the same format as her Adventures outfit. It's a nice outfit and better suited for more out and about wear, for sure. It's hard to find an outfit or style Krystal can't pull off and I think this one is both modern enough and still adherent to her cultural roots that she'd happily wear such a nice outfit.
Ah, sorry - misunderstood. As far as backstory goes, I tend to want to steer clear of that. Given that Krystal is from an existing IP, I generally dislike meddling with any kind of pre-existing, established backstory. This isn't my character and I don't really want to retcon much, if possible. Basically I prefer to keep things safe and stick with whatever backstory she's already known to have.
