Very rarely, one of the colony members of a Stratta nest will undergo a remarkable evolution into the most important member of their colony: A Queen, or more precisely an Ecitonnage. Ecitonnage only appear one to a nest, and are the backbone of the entire colony. They are the leaders, the egg-layers, and the source of all higher decision making amongst their fellows. Ecitonnage is the Pokémon responsible for choosing the minerals which the less evolved members of the nest feed on, resulting in their varied colors. Likewise, this Pokemon is in charge of guiding the nest to move to new feeding grounds when the time comes.
Carried by a group of specially assigned Stratta, the Queen of the colony is fully capable of walking and even flying if desired, despite her much larger size and greater weight than the others. She's not lazy, though; she's simply conserving energy, as her powerful drill-like stinger allows her to hollow out large tunnels and chambers faster than her subordinates, making her as much an essential part of nest construction as she is the cornerstone of their reproduction.
An Ecitonnage makes an excellent Pokémon for trainers seeking a durable and tough fighter, though they serve an even greater purpose by being naturally capable of breaking through rocks and cutting away scrub to clear routes. While one can be evolved in captivity or captured alone in the wild, it's common for additional members of the colony, including Stratta and Myrmeshale, to end up in the standard Pokéball capture beam. It's for this reason that many new trainers assume that Ecitonnage is a composite Pokémon, like Myrmeshale or Dugtrio.
