I should not be allowed to play Chrono Cross anymore. Number one, I cry at the fucking ending. Number two...I draw retarded sketches that don't fall into any kind of storyline during it.
"Thus the curtain closes on another tale.
An eternity has passed...
Fleeting dreams fade into the distance...
All that I have left now
is me and my memories...
But I'm sure we'll meet again,
Someday, you and I...
Another place, another time.
It's just that we might not realize
That you are you and I am me...
Let us open the door to the great unknown,
Come across another reality,
And live another today...
Even when the story has been told,
Life goes on...
Until we meet again,
Take care of yourself, my friend..."
-Chrono Cross
"Ugh," she huffed as she dodged through the crowded throng of the Atlanta city streets, her eyes glued to the comic book in her hands. "The bastard always gets it wrong. I don't even know why I bother to read these damn things anymore." She didn't worry about running into anyone. She'd lived there all her life. Members of the pedestrian traffic might as well have been as fixed as the parking meters she swung around, a constant pattern of weaving, running, and leaping she had developed since she was but a child making sure that she'd get through all of it swiftly. Once out of the thickest part of the multitude, she adjusted the headphones around her neck, her blue and brown hair falling further out from her shoulders.
"Hello there." Her well-furred ears twisted around to an accent that sounded as though it hailed from the United Kingdom, aristocratic, cultured, but oddly comforting.
Snapping the comic book closed, she turned to acknowledge the stranger's greeting. "Hey, sorry, but are you talking to me?" she asked, folding her right hand into the pocket of her hoodie. The canine in front of her was fair haired, a few inches taller than she was, with blue eyes that seemed to stare right through her. She felt the thumping of her heart as though it was coming up from the ground and began to feel childish about it.
"Of course," he replied casually, stepping a bit closer to her. "Forgive me, but I am new here and don't know my way around quite yet." He ran a white hand through his dark blond hair. "I was wondering if you could recommend a decent place to have a meal."
There was a boyish charm about him, something the street smart timberwolf instantly trusted. "Sure thing," she confidently returned and leaned closer to him, pointing down the street, "Just make a right at Peachtree Street and go down about two blocks. You'll find a little bar and grill called "The Cantina". A couple of my friends run it, and it won't turn your stomach."
"Thank you." The herding dog mix bowed his head slowly, and she felt her breath stop at the back of her throat as his eyes met hers again. "You wouldn't want to join me, would you?" There was an eerie confidence on his face, and it made the normally outspoken wolf feel uncharacteristically reserved.
"I'm sorry, do I know you from somewhere?" She squinted her deep brown eyes, looking into his face. "Did you go to West Georgia? Were you an art major?"
"No," he answered, closing his eyes and placing his hands into the pockets of his khaki pants. "I'm more of a philosopher than an artist."
"Well, then, I guess my next question is what is your name?" There was a bit of accusation in her voice. A bit of defensive posturing.
"Ben," he answered, surprisingly unphased by her reaction. "You can call me Ben."
The greypelt allowed the name to internalize a bit before she nodded. "Well, where do I know you from, Ben? You're strangely familiar..."
Slowly, he padded towards her, invading her space with the comfort of an old friend and reached out to hold her comic book, his hand touching hers as he pulled the graphic novel towards him. He laughed at the gold letters on the front, the retro font, and the sci-fi characters posed in cheesy action scenes on the cover. Looking up, he replied with a smirk, "Would you believe a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away?"
Just a cute sketch that has no real meaning or place in anything. This is what happens when Wielder plays Chrono Cross waaaaaay too much. Expect moar actual Stuhr Dur MurrPurr Warz art laterz. Workin' on somefink vurry colorful right now. Besides, dakinkypimpwolfie said I had to draw more Ewan McGregor/Obiwanz Jedi Mullet.

You should have seen me fifteen years ago with pro wrestling and Godzilla. >_> I've calmed down a lot since but I still have the occasional geek out about'em. ^^;;
And the funny thing is I could actually see a scene like this happening. Wielder and Obi-Wan being reborn on earth, and Obi-Wan using his alias as ben and somehow remembering his past while Wielder may not necessarily remember as clearly as he does.
*thumbs up* I likes it! ^.^

I love Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross...I wish they would continue the series instead of making MMO after MMO...and ruining the Final Fantasy series. I mean, fans have been crying for another Chrono game for years. It's a freaking cult classic, and I don't know why they won't just hurry the fuck up and do it.
As for the ending...I didn't think it was that hard to understand. Do people seriously not understand it *blinks*?

I think a lot of people were taken aback by CC itself given the relative simplicity of CT.
As far as why there's been no sequel: from what I understand, there are internal politics at play because the people who contributed to both games are either now independent contractors or have moved on to work for other companies, while Square-Enix retains the IP trademarks and copyrights.
The long and short of it is that the Chrono series is one of those that'll probably never see a continuation despite deserving another title. Of course, given the extreme god-awful that characterized the most recent FF offering as well as the past two Star Ocean installments, can you really say that's such a bad thing?
The game industry isn't the small, mom-and-pop institution it was twenty years ago. These businesses are being run with a concern for one thing and one thing only: the ever-expanding bottom line. As long-time gamers, we need to stop believing these people are in it for any reason but.

My husband thinks it's a cross between of all that and the fact that Square just doesn't give a shit if it makes a classically good game anymore. They are kind of to the point where Disney is now in that all they have to do is make something, paste their logo on the front of it, and it's gold. Don't have to fucking work for it anymore, and that's disgusting. Money, while it should be a part of it, should not be the only thing going into games. Especially not RPGs. I don't fucking get it.
That's just it, though, isn't it? So many people have brand loyalty to particular corporate names that they don't know a good game from a bad. Therein lies the point of the business - to make money hand-over-fist while minimizing expenses. Look at Blizzard. Look at Electronic Arts, for God's sake: that's the epitome of everything I'm getting at.
I no longer expect or anticipate anything quality coming from any company; as time wears on I find myself with less and less time to play games, so I reserve that time for titles that're actually worth that time. I certainly don't expect it to come from any traditional maker of jRPG's.

Man, Obi wan looks so hot here ;_____; he's my absolute favorite character and I'm so glad Ewan McGregor was chosen to play him in the movies. It just fits so well! So does this breed of dog for this character. The way you describe him also fits the bill, I love it ^^! Great job, darlin!
It is a beautiful game...but it picks up at the end.
Oh, you mean Redeem Me? The college one? I will be "resetting" it actually. I'll be redoing the beginning and a few other parts. It needs an overhaul. I'm glad you were liking it though. There will be many things that stay the same...some things that change. The character dynamic will pretty much be the same. I'm honored that you like it!

And what a creative little cross over. Not only are you talented in writing sci-fi ficbits, you're great at writing day-to-day happenings as well. I can see Wielder weaving through pedestrians like I was standing right there. Also their expressions are just tooooo sexy. <3 And I want to squeeze Wielder and Obi-Wan's butts. Ffffffff 8B <3333 THE ANATOMY LOOKS SO GOOD.
Also I cannot wait to see this thing of many colors you're doing. Fffff. 8B

Gah, this think I ish colorin' is taking forever because I'm coloring it in stages and scanning it because dissy wanted me to do a marker tutorial of sorts...and I'm going to suck at it, but mean bear lady will eat my heart on a paper plate if I don't. Lol.

Chrono Cross is the sequel to Chrono Trigger. Both are old school RPGs from Squaresoft, and they are both really beautiful games. I highly recommend them.
Lol, yeah...he sees a Star Wars logo, and is like "really?".
I had a few other ideas for other pieces like this, but I don't know if I'll visit them...at least not yet. The more canon stuff has me going right now, but I'm glad some of you seem to like the idea. Drawing Obi in regular clothes was fun.
