It's been there for tens of years. I don't know anything about its history at all. I climbed it some ten/fifteen years ago and wrote my name on it, but I think it's long gone. Other peoples names are on it but I couldn't find mine. It's about 20/25 feet tall.
It's really only the base to what I guess might have been a much higher tower, as there is a mounting plate of sorts at the top.

I just did a search on San Luis Obispo and found your pictures. I hiked up there last year and I have a 360 view video on Youtube:

You're not still in SLO are you?

Hey I'm glad you found my pics, lol. It's a good hike up that mountain, and I remember going up there once when I actually went to SLO HS, back in 1996 or so. Did you see the huge rock piles, and the rock bench seat? I never did find out what the story with that place is.
I see you have a journal about fursuiting at the farmers market. You weren't there in April were you? I spent a week of my leave in southern and central Cali during the second week of April and visited the market. I saw fursuiters there but I was in a flow of people and couldn't stop to say anything, lol.
I don't live in California any more, sadly. I moved to Texas because cost of living is a lot less. I might move back, but if I do it won't be until next year.

Yeah I walked all the way along the ridge to where it becomes private property and saw the rock piles. I may have been at Farmers in April, can't remember for sure. But all us who fursuit there are part of one group that usually hangs out there. We don't fursuit every week, but maybe once a month. I hear you on the expense of living here. I'm going to Cal Poly and it's a good thing I have the GI Bill. (did 6 years in the USAF)
