Raiden made a break for it, seeing an opening, and attempting to escape. Both parties leapt at him, to claim him as theirs. Raiden certainly didn't win the dispute...or maybe he did "win" by getting a good master. In the end in their haste to stop Raiden from escaping, they both covered him equally, claiming him as a host for the goo, and a defender for the trees. Both sides are happy, and Raiden will soon be happy too, with his sleek new body and job
