an imp walking in numerous directions for no immediately evident reason.
it may carry a different object (or possibly have toes) at a later point in the future; I quite forgot I gave it a frosting tube a few years after making the very old sprites on which I based these and that makes more sense than the vague tube gun it initially had which this is a similarly vague follow-up to.

I can do that right in aseprite but I won't because in gzdoom I can scale them directly. The point is for them to not becomes pixelated at close range. Please trust that I wouldn't go to all this extra trouble if I didn't have some idea what I was doing! Making them at the small size is much easier, and there is a reason that I don't.
OH you're talking about the gif quality. Please pardon me, I got a comment about the resolution on a similar sprite set I did a while ago and just by chance the full size of this is exactly 10 times larger than might casually appear necessary for the "game" they go into.
However: I did try and put this through a gif optimizer I have used in the past and it only lost about 80 kilobytes. I definitely get varied results on this sort of thing.

even on https://ezgif.com/optimize/ with the maximum lossy compression it offers the best it can do is "737.66KiB (-26.65%)," Are you saying you put this gif into gimp and got it to around 100 kilobytes?
