Umame SFW Ref Sheet [chloe-dog]

Another late upload! But I am proud to finally be able to present Umame! She was created at the same time as her sister, Manyara, and her daughter, Sethunya, but I did not get a reference of her made up until December last year. Like her sister and daughter, Umame is based on a variety of southern African ethnicities including, but not limited to, Zulu and Xhosa. I love to explore these cultures and she helps me a great deal in learning ^^
Now what to say about this character...? Well, I think I will begin by talking about the Kingdom itself! This Mutapa comes from the rp world I have with 
historicalyincorrect and is based on the historical Kingdom of Mutapa which existed from the 15th-18th centuries and encompassed many territories of modern day Africa in the south. It had a strong control over gold mines and used its wealth of gold to trade for luxury goods like silk. As for Umame herself, I wanted her reference sheet to showcase this. She enjoys fashion and keeping up with trends whether they originated in Mutapa or the neighbouring kingdoms, hence why she is dressed the way she is. Of course, she also has traditional clothing and beadworks of her own which she adorns herself with in cases of ceremony! But most of the time she is happy to indulge in the life of luxury ;)
Umame's unofficial title is the 'mother of Mutapa', an affectionate name spoken by the people of the Kingdom who she cares for so much; care that stems in some way from the love she has for her eight children. However, she is far from perfect on this front. Sethunya feels both smothered and neglected by Umame's love who is blind to her daughter's desires and often concerning herself with political affairs instead of showing her the kind of attention she requires. And on this note, the King may have final say on matters of the state but the Queen has a powerful, yet quiet, influence upon him and her council is often sought out by her husband.
I think that's enough about this Queen cheetah for the time being ^^ I look forward to showing her off further in stories and arts, and I hope that everyone will thoroughly enjoy!

I am glad you're interested ^^ Spilling a little secret here but I'm thinking of opening my characters for stories late this month or early April! I need to come up with a list of content I'll accept for each of them but my Mutapan characters will be kept to SFW stuff
