A long standing 300,000+ year tradition among the Tyderius family. The sons and daughters of the current Lord in the family, upon forging their weapons and armor during their teen and early adult years, are required to present their weapons while in their armor for his approval. From there a combat test is performed to test the new generation's armor/weapon durability and effectiveness. During the test they must also show the weapon can handle the passage of the Tyderius's spiritual powers through the blades themselves. If either the armor or weapons fail (or both) the son/daughter must go back and remake their equipment and try again. Its not only a form of blacksmith experience but also a combination of art form and metallic craftsmanship on top of functionality.

In this case, Lord Akrandar Tyderius is examining the weapon of his son Haljerron. Personally he has always seen battleaxes as being heavy and often clumsy weapons but with this one it was oddly light for the most part with some minor re-balancing needed. However Haljerron crafted the weapon to be heavy atop the shaft of the ax so that he can use the weight and momentum to lead to his next strike. Now begs the question can it hold up in a fight against an experienced warrior and veteran of 3 wars, being his father.
