Something I've never really drawn attention to is the fact that his collar, which has no latch or other means of removal, does always resize with him. It's always small enough to not fit over his head, but large enough to not be too tight on his neck.
Also, he enjoys gardening.

The city he's from causes changes to the people that live in it. His were more chimeric than most, and he continued to get more and more over the years. They only stopped after being bitten by a werewolf and becoming one himself.
The paw on the tail is simply another one of the changes caused by the city.
