An assignment for class to illustrate a book cover for a favorite book of ours. I chose A Wizard of Earthsea! I wanted to caputre a vintage 60s/70s style. I like it OK but I didnt' take many risks since it had to be done traditionally and I'm more comfortable with digital art.

Lovely! I like that you subtly included his shadow by making it face the other way instead of a 'normal' shadow. One of my favorite characters from one of my favorite books. I love his hero's journey, so grounded and relatable.

Thank you! I had a lot of different ideas for this one but I thought I'd try doing something graphical and representational instead of super literal. It's one of my favorite books too. It's been way too long since I've read it ;o;

The original trilogy-plus-one is worth many re-reads, not that it isn't generally true of all of her work. If you haven't also tracked down the short story anthology 'tales from Earthsea', I will say I was pleasantly surprised to trip over it a few decades back, as well as the final novel in the Earthsea cycle that came out around the same time (The Other Wind). I don't think I've remembered to re-read those so I'll have to go digging to see where my copies ended up.
