The thick southern accent speaking Mario-Stalin guy always cracks me up. And he's the only person to speak english in the original audio track, everyone just replies to him in japanese.
I think about the only dead serious godzilla movie they made was the first one, complete with scenes of kids dying from radiation and helpless doctors and all :/

That's just my point...I WANT a serious Godzilla. There is more then enough elements in the old movies to make a Godzilla movie..monsters, mechs, psychics, secret agents, old civilizations, you could build something really awesome here.

i....no, i can't. listen, most of the Godzilla movies are actually pretty silly. nearly all of the showa era is just wacky (we shall control the minds of the people of earth with....a THEME PARK!) and a lot of the later ones don't fare too much better.
when Godzilla films are serious is when there's a political and/or social message in it. that's where Godilla comes from. the need to warn the world how terrible atomic warfare really is. all the really serious ones have some message they carry with grim importance, and it's part of what makes them such better movies than other kaiju films. asking for it to be serious without any kind of message is asking for trouble, lookit tristar's wreck of an attempt.
